Low rain chances are in the forecast for areas generally along and east of a Llano to San Marcos to Cuero, with dry weather elsewhere. It will be hot again with highs in the mid 90s to 105 degrees.

De Witt County will be under a burn ban beginning at 6:00 PM tonight (August 24,2026)

Our firefighters have been extremely busy today as dry conditions have created perfect conditions for fast-moving wild fires. Please avoid outdoor burning now, keep trailer chains secured and off the roadway, and use extreme caution with anything that could create heat or sparks.

This is also a great opportunity to consider joining your local volunteer fire department. These dedicated volunteers respond when our neighbors and communities need them most, and they need our support.

When we come together, we strengthen safety throughout De Witt County. It's our community helping protect lives, property, our beautiful land, and our wildlife.

Please stay alert, be careful, and call 911 immediately if you see smoke or fire.

CPD would like to remind everyone that Daule School is private property and not open to the public. Individuals trespassing on the property are subject to a Criminal Trespass class B misdemeanor charge which could include jail time and a fine. If anyone has any information on the individuals in the videos posted, please give us a call at (361) 277-3552.
