Good evening, DeWitt County,

You may have noticed that the Guadalupe River and several creeks across the county are flowing a bit higher and faster than usual. We've been monitoring the river levels throughout the day, and they are already beginning to recede. At this time, there is no concern for flooding or water moving outside the riverbanks.

We have seen an increase in debris in the water, and conditions remain unsafe for recreational use. For your safety and that of our responders, we kindly ask that you avoid swimming, kayaking, or entering the river at this time. Deputies have been made aware and will continue to monitor.

2022 was a busy year for the District and 2023 is shaping up to be even busier! Here are some progress photos on a couple of the major projects from the past year.

A great example of the importance of silt fences during construction. Without these fences installed (and maintained!), sediment and trash end up in our drainage systems. What does this mean for you? Sediment buildup = clogged drains = increased risk of FLOODING!
