Such acts like this pose significant safety risks and could encourage further hazardous behaviors. Parents please inform your kids that trespassing is against the law. This is precisely how our training facility, the burn building, was vandalized and subsequently set on fire, rendering it structurally unsound and necessitating its demolition. This incident occurred in close proximity to Daule School, separated only by a pasture.

Another day of dangerous heat is ahead for Cuero and DeWitt County, with temperatures near 104°F and heat indices making it feel even hotter. A Heat Advisory remains in effect through Wednesday.
Stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the afternoon, take frequent breaks in the shade or AC, and check on those who may be more vulnerable to the heat. Stay safe, Cuero! 🥵☀️

DANGEROUS HEAT CONTINUES ACROSS CUERO
Another round of hazardous heat is here, and unfortunately, there’s not much relief in sight.

The extreme heat is expected to continue into next week, so take it seriously. Stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during the hottest part of the day, take frequent breaks in the shade or A/C, and check on your neighbors, family, and pets.
For those working or spending time outside, know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

With El Niño conditions developed and strengthening, "flash drought" or the rapid intensification of drought, has started. This will likely support increased wildfire activity into early fall in some parts of the state.

El Niño conditions don’t always produce the same outcome; however, 2015 and 2023, both strong El Niño years, brought periods of rapidly developed drought and increased wildfire activity to parts of the state.

Between July 1 and October 31, 2015, Texas A&M Forest Service responded to 667 wildfires that burned 98,940 acres. During the same period in 2023, we responded to 1,009 wildfires that burned 111,316 acres.

This year is showing some similarities to those previous patterns, with increasing drought and wildfire occurrence. Our Predictive Services department is closely monitoring weather, drought and vegetation, as these trending conditions can change.
