During National EMS Week, May 17–23, we recognize and honor the dedicated men and women who provide lifesaving care on the front lines of emergency medicine every single day. Their commitment, compassion, and professionalism make a difference in our community when people need help most.
The Cuero Fire Department would like to thank all EMT-Bs, AEMTs, and Paramedics in DeWitt County for the sacrifices they make and the care they provide to others.
While Cuero Fire Department does not routinely respond to medical calls unless assistance is requested by Cuero EMS, every one of our firefighters is EMT certified and ready to respond whenever called upon to support our EMS partners and our community.
Thank you to all EMS personnel for your service, dedication, and countless hours spent answering the call. Happy National EMS Week from the Cuero Fire Department.

🚨 Bleeding emergencies can happen anytime — and knowing what to do in those first few minutes can save a life.

On May 21, 2026, communities across the country recognize National Stop the Bleed Day — a reminder that anyone can step in and make a difference before professional help arrives.

🩸 Why it matters:
Uncontrolled bleeding is one of the leading causes of preventable death after injury. Quick action can mean the difference between life and death.

💡 3 simple skills that save lives:
✔️ Apply firm pressure with your hands
✔️ Pack the wound with gauze or cloth
✔️ Use a tourniquet if bleeding won’t stop

🙌 You don’t need a medical background — just the willingness to act.

📚 Get trained.
🤝 Share the knowledge.
❤️ Be ready when it counts.
