Please take caution when parking or driving over tall, dry grass or vegetation. The undercarriage of a vehicle can reach high external temperatures able to ignite grass within minutes.

With the hot and dry conditions we are seeing across the state, fire danger is high! Let’s all do our part to prevent wildfire.

Attention Irrigators! Please join us for the upcoming Public meetings regarding the Fort Peck Test Flow proposal

Attention Missouri River Irrigators! MRCDC, in partnership with your local Conservation District, will be hosting public meetings to discuss the Corps of Engineers Fort Peck Test Flow Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). The DEIS was released on March 26 and includes proposals to significantly raise and subsequently lower the river flow during prime irrigation season to benefit the pallid sturgeon. Both alternatives outlined within the DEIS are problematic from an irrigation as well as a local economic perspective.

We will be hosting public meetings to give an overview of the DEIS and how to write and submit meaningful comments. We're offering two different meetings on each day, one at 10AM and one at 4PM. Our presentation and time for Q&A should take less than an hour, but we will be available following each meeting to assist writing individual comments.

The Draft Fort Peck Test Flows Environmental Impact statement can be accessed online at: https://www.nwo.usace.army.mil/Missions/Civil-Works/Planning/Project-Reports/.

Please let Liv Holt at [email protected] or 406-581-3996 know if you plan to attend, though an RSVP is not necessary. All are welcome.

Thank you to all of our Farmers and Ranchers who have worked hard to make Ag the #1 industry in Montana! Happy Montana Ag week and National Agriculture Day!

With more than 27,000 farms and ranches across our state, agriculture is Montana's number one industry.

I look forward to celebrating the many contributions of Montana producers to our state during #MTAgWeek.

2021 marks the 60th anniversary of the Keep Montana Green art contest. This event inspires Montana students to create original artwork for a cause: preventing human-caused wildfires. Last year’s state-wide winner was Kolton Johnson of Plains High School, who wants Montana to know the “everyone plays a part” in wildfire prevention.

To learn more about the art contest, and see other examples of past artwork, visit https://www.keepmontanagreen.com/”
