Training was held Wednesday 5/6 at the department for usage of Prince Edward County’s new “Air 50” support unit. Air 50 is a mobile unit that can be brought to an emergency scene to refill firefighter’s air tanks (the clean air we breathe when in close proximity to a fire).

A special thanks to Trey Pyle for leading the training of Air 50!

Information on Air 50 courtesy of Prince Edward County, Virginia:

“Great things happen when partnerships and preparation come together in support of public safety.

Prince Edward County is proud to introduce the new Air 50 support unit, made possible through $149,069 of grant funding from the FEMA Assistance to Firefighter Grant and the Virginia Department of Fire Program Mini-Grant. Air 50 is now ready to serve alongside our dedicated county volunteer fire departments and will play a critical role on emergency scenes, providing essential air support to firefighters and helping keep crews safe during extended operations.

The Board of Supervisors, in collaboration with the Prince Edward Area Firefighter Association, continues to invest in the tools and resources our volunteer Fire and EMS agencies need to help make our community and our first responders safer.

Air 50 is another example of how working together strengthens public safety throughout the Prince Edward – Farmville community.”
