On May 30, 2026, deputies with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office were conducting routine patrol near County Road 222 and County Road 437 when they initiated a traffic stop.

During the stop, the driver was identified as Gary Hardin. After developing probable cause to search the vehicle, deputies discovered approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine.

Hardin was placed under arrest and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

Sheriff Matt Gentry stated that he is proud of the hard work and dedication of our patrol deputies. “Our deputies continue to work hard every day to protect our community and remove dangerous drug offenders from our streets,” Sheriff Gentry said.

On May 25, 2026, the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding two missing juveniles, ages 6 and 3. The children were last seen near County Road 112 in the Bremen community.

An extensive search effort was launched involving deputies and investigators from the Sheriff’s Office, along with numerous volunteer fire departments from surrounding areas and SOS Search and Recovery. After several hours of searching, both children were located safely and reunited with their family.

Sheriff Matt Gentry expressed gratitude for the successful outcome and the community response.

“We want to thank all the agencies that assisted in the search effort. This is what makes Cullman County great. In the face of adversity, we come together to help each other,” Sheriff Gentry said.

As we observe this Memorial Day, we ask everyone to take a moment to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we enjoy every day, and we owe them a debt that can never truly be repaid.

While many spend today with family and friends, let us never forget the true meaning of Memorial Day and the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

Over the last several days, the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office have been busy working for the citizens of Cullman County. Investigators and patrol deputies have worked diligently to identify and arrest individuals involved in the distribution and possession of dangerous illegal drugs.

On May 18, investigators with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit served a felony warrant on Keith Floyd at his residence. While serving the warrant, investigators observed suspected narcotics in plain view inside the home. As a result, investigators obtained and executed a search warrant for the residence. Keith Floyd was subsequently arrested and charged with

-Distribution of a Controlled Substance
-Possession of a Controlled Substance
-Possession of Ma*****na
-Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

In a separate incident, patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 298 on Interstate 65. During the course of the stop, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle. Following the search, the driver, Katelyn Brown, and passenger, Marcus Barfield, were both arrested and charged with Trafficking in Fentanyl.

Sheriff Matt Gentry stated he is extremely proud of the dedication and hard work shown by the investigators and deputies of the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office. They continue working every day to remove dangerous drug offenders from our communities and keep the citizens of Cullman County safe.

On May 14, 2026, deputies with the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop near Highway 69 and County Road 1604. The suspect refused to stop and fled in his vehicle before coming to a stop after a short pursuit and being taken into custody.

Patrol Deputy Kyle Foshee initiated the traffic stop, pursued the suspect, and ultimately took him into custody. Deputies and investigators from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, along with assistance from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Investigators, and the Cullman Police Department, assisted with the stop and subsequent vehicle search.

The suspect, Mitchell Craig Lands, was arrested and charged with:

Trafficking in Methamphetamine
Attempting to Flee/Elude Law Enforcement

Lands was booked into the Cullman County Jail on a $1,003,000 bond.

Sheriff Matt Gentry stated he is proud and thankful for the hard work and dedication shown by our patrol deputies and investigators. Sheriff Gentry also stated this shows the strength and partnership that has been developed over years of working together with these agencies.
