Thank you to Superintendent Mr. Kallhoff and the Cullman City Board of Education for recognizing our Child Nutrition Program staff at last night’s board meeting.

We are truly grateful for the support and appreciation shown to the ladies who work hard each day to serve the students of Cullman City Schools. Our CNP team has served more than 300,000 meals to date and plays an important role in helping students feel cared for, nourished, and ready to learn.

This recognition means so much to our staff, and we are thankful to be part of a school system that values the work happening in our cafeterias every day.

🍽️🌱 From the Kitchen to the Classroom β€” and Straight to the Farm! 🌱🍽️

Our Cullman City Child Nutrition managers had the opportunity to step out of the kitchen and spend two incredible days learning, growing, and working together at Jones Valley Teaching Farm in Birmingham.

The Alabama State Department of Education hosted its first-ever Farm to School and Scratch Cooking Workshop on May 7–8, 2026. Registration was free and made possible through the Farm to School Formula Grant.

This hands-on experience gave our team the chance to dig deeper into child nutrition, farm-to-school practices, and scratch cooking. From picking fresh onions straight from the garden, to preparing oven-fried chicken, to making homemade biscuits β€” yes, homemade biscuits are coming to a kitchen near you next school year! β€” our managers brought learning to life in the best way.

These two days were filled with teamwork, new ideas, fresh inspiration, and memories that will last for years to come. We are excited to bring what we learned back to our schools as we continue serving nutritious, high-quality meals to our Cullman City students.

A special thank you to ALSDE and Jones Valley Teaching Farm for such a meaningful and inspiring experience. We are growing more than food β€” we are growing knowledge, leadership, and a stronger Child Nutrition team. πŸŒΎπŸ’›πŸ–€
