"After graduating from WCU in May 2019 with a double-major in International Studies and Spanish with a TESOL minor, I moved to Busan, South Korea in around July 2019 to teach English. I taught English in Busan from 2019-2020, then I moved to Guadalajara, Mexico. I spent almost four years in Mexico; the first three I spent teaching English, and the last year was spent as an “academic specialist.” This role included working with schools from all over Latin America, speaking to directors, and essentially selling them on the company’s English educational programs.
Toward the end of my time in Mexico, I was accepted into an online International Relations Master’s program at American University. I very recently graduated from the program, and my concentration was in U.S. Foreign Policy and State Security. At the beginning of 2024, I returned to the U.S., and I am now in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While completing my Master’s, I interned with an international philanthropy consulting firm called Geneva Global, where I wrote articles, case studies, and conducted interviews with stakeholders from Ethiopia and Uganda. After my internship, I got hired at my current position at an immigration law firm where I’m working as a bilingual case coordinator.
My goals for the near future are to start learning Portuguese to add to my Spanish fluency. I would also like to move to the DMV area to pursue a career with an international organization, nonprofit, or think tank, focused on U.S-LAC relations/policy. "
