This past Saturday we had a lovely group of foster parents from Culpeper, Fauquier, and Spotsylvania join us for our second in-person training of this year on Positive Parenting. This training was held by Formed Families Forward with the Culpeper Baptist Church allowing us to use their space and help the families with childcare. We are always grateful for their partnership!

Formed Families Forward did an amazing job with providing handouts and having hands on activities to help us learn about how we can support our foster youth who have experienced trauma. Breaks and lunch were provided for everyone. Our parents will have one last in-person training offered in September this year, and we can't wait to share more from it! ❤

Every foster family's story starts somewhere different. 💙

An information meeting. A co-worker's story. A mentor relationship. A phone call that changed everything.

This Foster Care Awareness Month, we shared stories from families across Virginia who opened their homes, and their hearts, to children who needed them. Their journeys weren't perfect. But they were present. And that made all the difference.

In Culpeper County we currently have 9 foster families! 3 of our 9 families are relative homes for an out of state placement. Since our post last year, we have closed out our ICPC (Interstate Placement) homes because the families adopted or had custody transferred to them! How amazing is that!

We are so thankful for all our families and the healing and love that they foster in our community through our youth and their families 💜

"If you're thinking about it... listen to that voice." 💙

Cindy Hancock didn't plan to become a foster parent. But after hearing a co-worker share their story, something clicked. As a single parent, she had real questions about finances, capacity, and whether she could do it alone.

With support from her family, her community, and local foster care teams, she realized she didn't have to figure it out by herself.

Fostering isn't about being perfect. It's about taking the next step.
