This week, community members gathered at Culpeper Baptist Church for the annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil.

The evening featured guest speaker Tara Petito of the Gabby Petito Foundation, who shared a powerful message about recognizing warning signs, supporting victims and survivors, and raising awareness.

Following the loss of her daughter Gabby to domestic violence, Petito has dedicated herself to educating others and advocating for those affected by abuse.

The vigil also provided an opportunity to remember lives lost, honor survivors, and reinforce the importance of coming together as a community.

Thank you to Tara Petito, the event organizers, and everyone who attended to show their support.

East Fairfax District Town Hall Meeting - October 31

Culpeper County Board of Supervisors member David Lee will host a town hall meeting on Saturday, October 31, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Culpeper County Library.

While the meeting will focus on matters of interest to East Fairfax District residents, all Culpeper County residents are welcome to attend.

Meeting Details:

Time: 11 a.m. – Noon

Location: Culpeper County Library, Conference Room

County Administrator Thomas Hutka will serve as the guest speaker. The meeting will also include time for public comment and questions from residents.

With Culpeper’s Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil coming up next Tuesday, we wanted to share a reminder for anyone planning to attend.

The vigil will be held Tuesday, October 20 at 6 p.m. at Culpeper Baptist Church and will feature Tara Petito, stepmom of Gabby Petito, as this year’s honored speaker.

At its October 6 meeting, the Culpeper County Board of Supervisors had the pleasure of recognizing Finley Christensen, a Culpeper Middle School student from Jeffersonton, for her courage during a family medical emergency.

On August 9, Finley realized her mother needed medical attention. She called 911 and sought help from a neighbor, taking important steps to make sure her mother received the care she needed.

What Finley did that day was remarkable, especially for someone her age. Faced with a frightening situation, she found a way to get help when her family needed it most.

The Culpeper County Board of Supervisors recognized the Culpeper Children’s Services Act (CSA) program this week for receiving the State Executive Council’s Excellence in CSA Award.

The award recognizes Culpeper CSA’s leadership, collaboration and commitment to serving children, youth and families. Among its recent efforts, CSA and its community partners established a safe, child-centered soft interview room with support from a $60,000 Culpeper Wellness Foundation grant and matching funds from the Board of Supervisors.

The Board congratulated CSA Coordinator Amanda Long, program staff and community partners whose work helped earn this statewide recognition.

Congratulations to the Culpeper CSA team on this well-deserved honor!

Culpeper County High School celebrated Homecoming 2026 this past week. More than sixty years ago, Homecoming looked a little different.

Culpeper County High School Homecoming, October 1964.

The Culpeper County High School marching band makes its way down Davis Street ahead of the 1964 Homecoming game against the Orange Hornets.

There is so much Culpeper history tucked into this photograph—from the old storefronts and signs to the cars lining Davis Street and the spectators watching the band pass through downtown.

Does anyone remember when Culpeper County High School stopped holding its Homecoming parade on Davis Street? If you participated in one of these downtown parades—or remember watching them—we’d love to hear what you remember.

We are proud to share that earlier this week, a new ambulance arrived in Culpeper for the Little Fork Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company.

Culpeper County secured $324,494 in federal Community Project Funding through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help purchase the new unit.

This serves as an important investment in Culpeper County’s emergency response capabilities and will help Little Fork continue serving our community.
