The Culpeper Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Task Force is a collaboration of agencies that work together to reduce the incidence of domestic violence and sexual assault by:
Promoting prevention and early intervention through community education and awareness. Facilitating the coordination of services among agencies, departments, and the courts to maximize services to victims of domestic vio

Victim/Witness Program
The Victim/Witness Program helps to ensure that victims of crime will receive fair and compassionate treatment throughout the judicial process. Their primary purpose is to help victims and witnesses prepare for trial through support and education. They provide such services as court accompaniment, advocacy, information about a victim's case, transportation assistance to court, explanation of court procedures, employer intercession, crisis intervention, and much more. SAFE is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization that provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison , Orange and Rappahannock counties. Services include 24-hour hotline, shelter, transitional housing for women and their children, emotional support, information and referral, legal support education and peer support, support groups for women and children, children's programs, community education, and teen dating violence prevention, For more information call (540) 825-8891. *Bilingual Services Available*
Culpeper Commonwealth Attorney's Office
This office is responsible for providing the Commonwealth of Virginia with legal representation in the form of prosecution of all criminal cases in the General District Court, Circuit Court, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Legal advice is provided to local law enforcement agencies. It's personnel consists of the elected commonwealth attorney who serves four year terms and five assistant commonwealth attorneys. The Culpeper Police Department serves the town of Culpeper, there are two divisions, Patrol and Criminal Investigation. The department has various programs such as TRIAD, Child Seat Inspection, Bicycle Program, Neighborhood Watch, and Animal Control. For more information call (540) 727-3430. The Sheriff's Office was established in 1761. The Sheriff's Office has a patrol division, criminal investigators, special response team, the jail, courtroom security, D.A.R.E. and school resource officers. For more information call (540) 727-3400. Rappahannock Legal Services (RLS)
Rappahannock Legal Services is a non-profit corporation which provides certain free legal assistance to low income individual and families. The Culpeper Branch Office serves residents of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock counties.
