6:22am this morning CCVFD was dispatched to a fire in a commercial building. Chief 1 arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire on the second floor. Units arrived shortly after and went to work extinguishing the fire.

Many departments from Culpeper County and neighboring counties worked very well together to extinguish this fire.

Special thanks to The Bridge Community Church Canteen unit for coming out and taking care of everyone!

Last night was a great training session focused on new driver training. Tower drivers worked on setting up and operating the tower, while engine drivers practiced drafting operations for rural water supply.

The new engine drivers also supplied water to the tower, reinforcing coordination between the engine and tower crews during operations.

New members learned how to connect to hydrants and how to set up portable tanks for rural water operations, building a strong foundation in water supply fundamentals.

A special thanks to Lt. 2 for assisting with the training and for providing a tanker.

Excellent teamwork and dedication all around, great job to everyone who participated!

Culpeper County Volunteer Fire Department
102nd Annual Recognition and Awards Banquet

On Saturday, March 21st, the Culpeper County Volunteer Fire Department held its 102nd Anniversary Recognition and Awards Banquet. Our members were recognized for their excellent call response, dedicated training, active participation, and years of service.

President Steve Corbin welcomed our guests and had all stand as the Culpeper Minute Men, Sons of the American Revolution presented the colors, and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by Chaplain R.E. Deane’s blessing of the food. The guests of approximately one hundred and eighty enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Bob’s Blue Ridge BBQ and Blue Ridge Seafood.

After dinner, President Corbin acknowledges our esteemed guests, including visiting fire and rescue companies, town and county executives, local law enforcement officials, business representatives, and special guests.

President Corbin introduced the members of the Culpeper County Volunteer Fire Department, along with the number of years each member had served. After recognizing each member, President Corbin recognized our Chaplain R. E. Deane for his 66-plus years of service to the department. R. E. joined our department on September 19th, coinciding with his 27th birthday. He is also the longest-serving active member in Culpeper County. President Corbin also noted that the Culpeper County Volunteers had served a combined total of 1,135 years.

Chief Charles “Jr.” Perryman presented the annual operating and training report. This report included the number of calls dispatched, hours responding to calls, training hours, times to and from the calls, total number of volunteer hours for the year and the approximately ($630,000.00) dollars that our volunteers saved our taxpayers.

Deputy Chief Kenny Mills recognized and presented service pins to our members, Don Brauninger (5 yrs), Bill Bryce, Shane Kauffman, and Eric Scott (10 yrs), Karen Perryman (20 yrs), and to Kenny Mills (35 years). Service pins are awarded annually for every five years of service. Our top ten call runners and highest point members were also recognized.

This was a wonderful end to a memorable evening with our fire department friends and family.
