Amazing promotion and graduation ceremonies yesterday for CCMS 8th graders (x3!) and at the CCUSD Adult School. And such wonderful bookends - 8th graders rising to all the adventures of high school and adults whose educations were interrupted or who never had the opportunity at all deciding that now was the time to finish. Congratulations to both groups of students, and gratitude to the teachers and families of both for your support and encouragement. Looking forward today’s big ceremony for CCHS graduating seniors at West LA College!

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for CCHS and CPHS seniors and families, and a proud week for me as a school board member. We have such amazing students who have been well prepared for college, careers and life and are ready to go take on the world! Can’t wait for the big graduation ceremony next week at West LA College.

Pictures from the Kente Graduation Celebration, the Lavender Graduation Celebration*, and the La Fuerza Unida Graduation Celebration. (I couldn’t make it to the Asian American, Pacific Islander, Native Hawaiian Graduation Celebration but congratulations to all who participated!)

*Out of respect for the participants, I won’t post pics of the Lavender grads because not ever student has a supportive family and, while in Culver City we may wish the best for every student, social media can be a mean, hateful place, especially for young people who may not fit into some folk’s narrow ideologies.

Calling all Culver City baseball fans and CCHS supporters! After 13 innings, last night’s baseball game had to be paused, with our Centaurs in the lead, 11-10. The game will resume today at 4pm in Glendora. Show them some love and encouragement today, send happy thoughts, sounds like you can watch the game through an app (see below), or - if you’re a super fan! - go to Glendora to cheer them on in person!
