This morning, our department participated in a hands-on, scenario-based training exercise designed to challenge and strengthen our team. We simulated a two-vehicle collision involving multiple victims, allowing our crews to practice real-world response, coordination, and decision-making in a controlled environment.

Training at this level is essential—not only to help develop the next generation of firefighters, but also to ensure our experienced members stay sharp and ready for the complex situations we may face at any time. These exercises give us the opportunity to refine our skills, improve communication, and work together as a cohesive unit when it matters most.

We’re proud of the hard work and dedication shown by everyone involved as we continue preparing to serve and protect our community.

We want to give a HUGE shoutout to Hundts Auto Salvage in Plymouth for generously donating today’s vehicles. Be sure to check them out the next time you need the odd part for your vehicle!

Tornado Siren Testing & Severe Weather Alert 🚨

Marshall County will be testing the tornado sirens this morning at 10:15 AM. This is only a test as part of our regular system checks.

However, we want residents to be aware that there is a real potential for severe weather later today and overnight, including the possibility of tornadoes. ⛈️🌪️

Please stay weather aware this evening and overnight, monitor reliable weather sources, and have a plan in place should warnings be issued.

⚠️ Important: If you hear the tornado sirens sounding tonight, it is NOT a drill. Take it seriously and seek shelter immediately.

Stay safe, Culver.

Today's training started with an ice dive and finished with a safety standby for the Culver Winterfest Polar Plunge. In between, we practiced surface ice rescue techniques and hovercraft operations. We do more than just fight fires!

Does this look like something that interests you? If so, send us a message to find out how you can volunteer to be a Culver Firefighter!

Check out the view from our hovercraft this morning! This piece of equipment can travel over land, snow, water, and ice, allowing us to access hard to reach areas in tough conditions. With a top speed of up to 60 MPH, we use it year round for water and ice rescues.

🎉🚒 Happy New Year from the Culver Fire Department! 🚒🎉

As you ring in the New Year, the Culver Fire Department would like to remind everyone to celebrate big—but think first. We’d love to spend the night wishing you well, not meeting you under flashing lights.

A few friendly (and fire-tested) reminders:

Fireworks are cool. Setting the yard on fire is not. 🧨

Alcohol and driving don’t mix—Uber is cheaper than bail or a tow. 🚕

Keep an eye on the stove. “I forgot” is not a fire prevention plan. 🧯

If you light it, heat it, or drink it… maybe don’t do all three at once. 🙅🏼‍♀️

Make good choices, watch out for your friends, and help us start the New Year with zero stories that begin with “So what had happened was…” 🥂

From all of us at the Culver Fire Department: Happy New Year! Stay safe, stay smart, and let’s keep our firetrucks parked tonight. 🎆🔥
