This is great news! A huge shout out to everyone who worked on getting this bill passed to help those suffering from PTSD!

We would like to say thank you to the Wisconsin Senate and Assembly for approving the expansion of the PTSD workers compensation bill to cover Volunteer Fire and EMS.

This is a huge win for all of us!

We look forward to this hitting the Governors desk for signing in the near future!

đź’™ COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHTđź’™
Rest and Resilience Retreat

We are so proud to support an incredible new nonprofit, Rest & Resilience Retreats, founded by our best friend Sarah Tollefson — a Sergeant with the Apple Valley, MN Police Department and one of the best humans we know.

Sarah started this organization with one powerful mission:

✨ To give first responders a place to rest, heal, and reconnect — mentally, emotionally, and physically.

The retreat house is located here, in Cumberland on beautiful Beaver Dam Lake — giving first responders a peaceful, restorative place to reset and recharge.

Our first responders give so much to all of us. This is our chance to give back. ❤️

At Nezzy’s, we are honored to support these retreats by providing FREE meals every Friday night for participants while on retreat.

Now we’re asking our amazing community to help us support this mission too!

🫶 HOW YOU CAN HELP:
We are collecting essential items to help make these retreats comforting and restorative. Please see the list below for most-needed donations.

📍 Drop-off Location: Nezzy’s – Cumberland, WI

👉 Please LIKE & FOLLOW Rest & Resilience Retreats to stay connected and support their mission.

Thank you for being the community that always leads with heart. ❤️

DEADLY TEMPERATURES AHEAD

When It’s –20°F Outside: The Decisions That Matter Most

When temperatures drop to –20°F, extreme cold becomes a serious safety issue—not just an inconvenience. At these temperatures, minor problems can quickly turn into emergencies. The following actions help reduce risk and prevent avoidable incidents.

Limit travel whenever possible
Vehicle breakdowns are far more common in extreme cold, and being stranded can quickly become life-threatening. Emergency response times may also increase due to road conditions and call volume, making unnecessary travel a risk.

Protect heat, water, and power inside your home
Keep indoor temperatures steady, even overnight. Open cabinet doors on exterior walls and allow faucets to drip slightly to help prevent frozen pipes and costly water damage.

Plan for power outages differently in extreme cold
Homes lose heat rapidly at –20°F, and reliance on electric heat or medical devices increases risk. If your emergency plan depends entirely on electricity, identify safe backup options now.

Reduce carbon monoxide risks
Never use grills, generators, or propane heaters indoors or in garages. Keep furnace and dryer vents clear of snow and ice, and make sure carbon monoxide detectors are installed and working properly.

Check on vulnerable neighbors
Older adults, people living alone, and families with young children may need assistance during prolonged cold. A quick check-in can prevent a serious situation.

Know when cold becomes a medical emergency
Frostbite and hypothermia can develop quickly at these temperatures, even without heavy snowfall. Wind chill significantly increases risk, and alcohol use can make cold exposure more dangerous.

Extreme cold does not require panic, but it does require smart, intentional decisions. Preparedness during severe temperatures is simply taking steps today that prevent emergencies tomorrow.

Please use caution - these temperatures will be deadly

As we reach the cold winter months, please consider ice safety. There are a lot of factors to consider when it comes to ice formation including depth, current, fluctuation in temperature, wind, and vegetation.
