Why I Ride: A Fight Against Cancer
I'm participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge this year because I ride for you, I ride for my family, and I ride for my friends. We've all felt the impact of cancer in some way, shape, or form.
My friend Rich, whose wife is bravely battling cancer, invited me to join. Every dollar we raise will support Dr. Jacobsen’s Research Fund. Dr. Jacobsen's dedication to treating cancer patients is truly remarkable, and I'm incredibly thankful for all the doctors, medical teams, and scientists who work tirelessly towards cures for this devastating illness.
When I think about why I ride, it's deeply personal. This disease saddens me because of how prevalent it is in our world. Both of my parents and my sister-in-law have faced cancer, and thankfully, they all won their battles. Many of my close friends have also fought and overcome cancer.
However, my family has also endured the heartbreak of losing too many loved ones. My wife lost her mother and aunt far too young, and I've lost uncles, an aunt, close friends, and work colleagues.
That's why I'm riding: for my family, my friends, and my work peers (both past and present) who have battled or are currently battling cancer. Please help me raise money to fight this disease, discover cures, and hopefully, one day, eradicate it for good.
Your contribution will help us raise critical funds to combat cancer, accelerate the discovery of new cures, and, with hope, one day eradicate this devastating disease entirely. The I've made a personal commitment to ride PMC 2025 and raise $6,000.00. I hope you can help me achieve this significant goal.
About the Pan-Mass Challenge
The PMC raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country, more than $1 billion since 1980 and $75 million in 2024 alone! This success is the result of a lot of people riding for, and caring about, a cure. And because every penny matters, 100 percent of your donation goes to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
