Thank you so much for your generous donation and beautiful words of support for the FCPL Friends and Advocates!
Our Friends volunteers have been going the extra mile for our library system since 1996. Whenever you donate to or shop at the Friends Bookstore, your support helps make possible:
🎭Special programs and events
📖 Author visits
📚 New materials and resources

Just donated a bunch of books to the FCPL Friends & Advocates’ bookstore. If you’re a library lover and you don’t know about this amazing organization, you should!
Each library in our county has a bookstore inside of it that sells used books for between $1 to $3. (Hampton Park’s are self-serve shelves instead of a store.)
I have fond memories of going into the Sharon Forks location and letting each of my kids pick out a book after “Toddler Time.” There was something so exciting to them that these were books they could “keep forever,” instead of having to return to the library. I didn’t know until years later, that all of those $1 book purchases contribute to the programs I love so much.
Just in fiscal year 2026 alone, the Friends donated $100,000 to the Forsyth County Public Library. They were able to provide $50,000 for amazing programs and guest speakers, $40,000 to stock up on new books and resources, and another $12,000 to launch the very first Forsyth Youth Reads Together event.
If you want to support this local organization, there are a few ways you can get involved:
📚Donate your books: Bring them to any library bookstore location during library hours.
👋Volunteer: They often look for people to volunteer a few hours per week in the stores.
✅ Become a member of the Friends: Sign up for a $15 yearly membership. It’s a cheap and easy way to show your love of our local library system. Sign up: https://forsythfol.org/join-today/
🛍️Shop the bookstores: Buy books guilt-free, knowing you're supporting our library. (And celebrate that you’re keeping books out of landfills. Books that are not sold are eventually shipped to Better World Books where they’re donated to charity or recycled. In 2025, the Friends shipped over 55,000 books that could’ve ended up in a landfill).
