Be safe this Thursday! If you're going to deep fry that bird, please make sure there are no roofs or eaves or other flammable overhangs that might catch fire near your potential vat of demon spit.

Ballots are out for our local Ferry/Okanogan FPD #14 commissioner races. While the Fire/EMS Association and the FPD neither endorse nor prefer any specific candidate, we wish all luck and we hope all those served by our district take the time to educate themselves on the candidates and choose whomever is felt to be best suited.

Just a quick reminder that there is still a countywide limitation on the use of open flame. To be clear, there are 3 types of fuel allowed in your contained grill/BBQ or patio warmer:

1. Dry, clean (aka seasoned) firewood
2. Propane
3. Charcoal briquettes

That it's. No more. Nada. Nope. Napes! Save those tree branches til the snow flies.

All in a day's work.

Hey all, just a quick PSA from your awesome all-volunteer fire department: with red flag conditions (high temps, high winds, low humidity) comes serious scrutiny over any smoke and we absolutely appreciate it when fires are caught early! Help us help the community by being able to communicate what you see and more importantly, WHERE you see it when you call in a smoke check to 911.

1. What is your current location?
2. What direction are you looking (super important)?
3. Approximate distance to smoke?
4. Any landmarks you can see to help us find it?

Please remember that we can't see what you see and we aren't going to travel to your location to see what you see. The faster we can respond, the better. Also, if dispatch knows the above they can cross reference against any known fires with resources already dispatched. As always, stay safe and keep in mind there is a county-wide limit on open flame.
