Burn Ban

Nacogdoches County Commissioners issued an Order Restricting Outdoor Burning during today’s regularly scheduled meeting. The ban prohibits outdoor burning in unincorporated parts of the county for 90 days unless lifted sooner.
The ban does NOT apply to outdoor cooking provided the grill or smoker is placed on a concrete, gravel or dirt surface at least 5 feet away from any combustible materials.
Violations of the ban are a Class-C misdemeanor.

The Back to School Play Day at the Cushing Fire Station was a success. Thank you everyone for coming to support and have some fun with our firefighters. We will try to plan this again next year. Hopefully our community family grows bigger each year!!!

Mark your calendars- come join the fun at Cushing Volunteer Fire Department Station on 8/8/2026 for a back to school Play Day in the Water from 1:00pm-5:00pm. We will have an inflatable water slide, kiddie pools, games, fire trucks spraying water, Sno Cones, Popcorn, Drinks and Hot Dogs. This is an event the fire department has put together for the kids in the community to have some fun before going back to school. All kids under the age of 16 must have adult supervision. It’s going to be a blast. Everybody’s welcome so bring family and friends. Hope to see y’all there!!
