Dalton Nelson has received the distinction of Honorary Cushing Firefighter this month for his rapid response and heroic actions that prevented a fire from spreading in his home.

He was home alone when his dog alerted him to a fire in the bathroom. Instead of a panicking, Dalton retrieved the fire extinguisher that was kept in his home and put out the fire in the exhaust fan.

Just a reminder on the importance of making sure everyone in the household knows how to effectively operate a fire extinguisher.
