This evening, members of Pend Oreille County Fire District 5 had the pleasure of attending an event sponsored by Jeff and Cherish Myers and family. This was a thank you to the first responders who participated in the rescue of their son, Preston Myers, a young man that fell from a cliff near the Riverview Bible Camp, Cusick, Washington. The Myers family, with the help of the Riverview Bible Camp, treated the responders to dinner and a social event. This event was attended by many of the 52 responders that participated in the rescue of Preston. In addition to gratitude from the Myers family, Representative Baumgartner, 5th District of Washington, sent his staff to present Certificates of Congressional Recognition to all 52 rescuers.
Agencies that attended tonight included Pend Oreille County Fire District 5, 4, and 2, Kalispel Tribal Fire, US Air Force, US Border Patrol, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Pend Oreille County Sheriff, and Pend Oreille County Search and Rescue. Additional guests included staff from Representative Baumgartner's office, the Selkirk Sun, and former 5th District Representative Kathy McMorris Rodgers.
