It has been made known to the Custer City Police Department that there is a scam team that is fraudulantly posing, ‘spoofing’ (cloning the Custer City PD phone number) and calling people, saying that they are with a law enforcement agency, and that the person they have called has missed jury duty, so the person called either has to pay money over the phone, or to meet this ‘officer’, in order to not have a warrant put out for their arrest. Please spread this word, legitimate law enforcement anywhere around Custer County will never ask for money over the phone, especially threatening to pay or they will come and arrest you. If law enforcement contacts someone for a legitimate warrant over the phone, you should always verify it with the court clerk independently, and never pay over the phone. If there are ever any questions, please feel free to call Custer City PD at 580-593-2525 or Town Hall at 580-593-2312. Josh or Carmen will be able to tell you with certainty where or not a legitimate contact was attempted by the Town. Thank you all, have a great Monday!

Hope everyone is setup to have a great Easter weekend! The Town of Custer City / Custer City Police Dept wants to pass along some information to be on the lookout for. There have been reports of people opening pasture gates, out in the county, letting cattle out onto the roadways at night. This is obviously very dangerous, and is actively being investigated and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. There have also been reports of stop signs being taken out in the county, which is also obviously very dangerous and a public safety hazard. Please spread the word, and if anyone has additional information, concerning the gate opening or the stop signs being stolen, contact the Custer County Sheriffs office (580-323-1616) or the Custer City Police Department (580-593-2525).

Please note, Fred Adams has been found safely and has been returned to his family. Thank you to all the Law Enforcement and citizens for the tips, information, and assistance in helping to find him.
