Please share far and wide!

Custer County Democratic Party’s Medical Debt Relief Drive runs now through October 1, 2026 - a statewide push to erase medical debt for South Dakotans. We are stepping up to help through our grant partnership with Contest Every Race (CER). No one should go into debt for getting sick. This drive helps families in our county and across South Dakota confront the crushing cost of medical debt.

The Impact: Every $1 donated erases $100 or more in medical debt.

Who Qualifies: Households earning ≤ 400% of the federal poverty level or whose medical debt exceeds 5% of income (e.g., a family of four earning ≤ $124,800).

Privacy: Recipients are identified by our nonprofit partner. There are no applications, no personal data shared, no tax obligation.

"Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination."

From storytime for toddlers to job search support for adults and free Wi-Fi for students, our local libraries and museums do so much heavy lifting for our communities.

Right now, federal funding for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is on the line. While the House has proposed maintaining its ~$292M budget, we need to ensure Congress passes full funding to keep these crucial services alive.

We’ve successfully protected this funding together five times before, let’s make it six!

Former President Harry Truman famously kept a “The Buck Stops Here” sign on his White House desk. But the current president, Donald Trump, often veers from that motto of taking responsibility.
