🗳️ Public Notice: Glacier County Post-Election Audit

The Glacier County Election Office will conduct the post-election audit for the June 2, 2026 Federal Primary Election on Thursday, June 11, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Old Department of Revenue (D.O.R.) Room, located on the 2nd floor at the Glacier County Courthouse.

As part of Montana's post-election audit process, the State Board of Canvassers randomly selected Precincts 2 and 11 for a hand count audit.

The following races will be audited:

✔️ U.S. Representative, District 1
✔️ Montana Supreme Court Justice #4
✔️ Senate District 8

During the audit, election judges will hand-count ballots from the selected precincts and compare the results to the machine-tabulated totals. This process helps verify the accuracy of election results and the proper functioning of voting equipment.

The post-election audit is open to the public, and interested individuals are welcome to observe.

For questions, please contact the Glacier County Election Office at 406-873-3607.

🏛️ A Milestone for Glacier County Elections

What many voters may not know is that the Glacier County Voting Center in Browning has been more than four years in the making.

In 2020, Glacier County was awarded an election grant of more than $263,000, secured by Election Administrator Crystal R. Butterfly-Cole. Through that grant, the county purchased the property that now serves as the Glacier County Satellite Office. Included in the purchase was the adjacent shop building.

Over the past four years, that shop has been remodeled and transformed into a permanent voting center for Browning-area voters, providing a dedicated space for federal, state, and local elections.

It is also important to note that the Elections Department operates separately from the Clerk & Recorder's Office. Election operations, voting equipment, election grants, and election administration are managed through the Elections Department, which continually seeks opportunities to improve election services and accessibility throughout Glacier County.

Today, Glacier County is proud to be the only county in Montana with its own permanent satellite office and permanent voting center dedicated to conducting federal elections.

📍 The new Voting Center, located at the Glacier County Satellite Office in Browning, will open on June 2, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. The facility will serve as the polling location for Precincts 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 19, and 21C. Same-day voter registration services will also be available at this location on Election Day.

This achievement represents years of planning, investment, and commitment to ensuring that Glacier County voters have access to secure, accessible, and professional election services for generations to come.

📢 IMPORTANT ELECTION INFORMATION 📢

We would like to remind voters that a **Federal Election** is different from a **Tribal Election**.

A **Federal Election** is conducted by the **County Election Office** in accordance with **Montana election laws**, while Tribal Elections are conducted separately under the authority and procedures established by the Tribe.

When voters register to vote, they select how they would like to receive their ballot:
📬 **By Mail (Absentee Ballot)** or
🗳️ **In Person at the Polls on Election Day**

For a **Federal Election**, voters have two options to cast their ballot:

✅ **Absentee Voting (Vote by Mail)**
• Voters who choose to vote by mail will be mailed an absentee ballot.
• Voters may complete and return their ballot by mail or deliver it to the Election Office.
• Voters who register during the **late registration period** and come into the Election Office before Election Day will also be issued an **absentee ballot** and may vote at that time.

✅ **Poll Voting (Vote in Person)**
• Voters who choose to vote in person may cast their ballot at their designated polling place on Election Day.

If you believe you did not receive your absentee ballot, please do not assume you are unable to vote. We encourage you to check your voter registration and ballot status through the Montana Secretary of State's My Voter Page portal.

🔗 Check your status here: https://app.mt.gov/voterinfo/

The Montana voter portal allows you to:
• Verify your voter registration
• Confirm your mailing address
• Check the status of your absentee ballot
• Find your polling location

If you have questions about the Federal Election, please contact the County Election Office at 406-873-3607

Please share this information to help ensure all eligible voters have the opportunity to participate in the Federal Election.

🗳️ ABSENTEE VOTERS — IMPORTANT PRIMARY ELECTION INFO 🗳️

With ballots already out, voters are reminded that Montana’s June 2 Federal Primary is an open primary. Per a news release from the Montana Association of Clerk & Recorders and Election Administrators, voters will receive Democratic, Libertarian, and Republican ballots — but may only vote ONE ballot. Returning multiple ballots will result in a rejected vote.

Voters must also write BOTH their birth year and signature on the absentee ballot return envelope. Failing to include both required pieces of information will result in a rejected ballot.

✔️ Return ballots by 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 2
