A shift in the weather pattern draws in a tropical airmass from the southwest. High temperatures soar into the upper 80s and low 90s. With increased dew points, max heat indices will reach the mid to upper 90s, with isolated 100s in a few places. Relief arrives when rain and cooler air return late on Friday.

A Flood Watch is in effect for most of the area today through Tuesday evening. A slow-moving storm system will bring waves of showers and storms today through Tuesday when widespread amounts of 1-2.5" of rain are expected. Localized 3-6" are possible which may result in creeks overflowing their banks and flooded low-water crossings.
