A new wave of text scams has been reported that impersonate the Transportation Cabinet’s driver licensing offices and Office of Highway Safety. If you receive one of these texts, do NOT click on the link! 🚨

It was not sent by KYTC, as we do not collect traffic ticket fees. If you’ve provided any personal information, contact your bank immediately.

Ways to report:
- www.ic3.gov (FBI Internet Crime Complaint)
- www.reportfraud.ftc.gov (FTC)
- www.ag.ky.gov/scams (Kentucky Attorney General)

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office has had multiple calls of a scam through text messaging from the Kentucky drivers license regional office informing you that your vehicle currently has unpaid fines. This is definitely a scam. Please do not click the link on the message and delete it.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

We want to make our community aware of a scam that was reported today.

An elderly resident contacted us after receiving a phone call from someone pretending to be a police officer. The caller attempted to scare them into sending money to resolve a supposed legal issue.

Thankfully, the resident did the right thing and did NOT send any money and contacted us instead.

⚠️ Please remember:
• Law enforcement will never call and demand payment over the phone.
• We will never ask for payment using gift cards, wire transfers, or payment apps.
• Scammers often try to create panic or urgency to pressure people into paying quickly.

If you receive a call like this:
✔ Hang up immediately
✔ Do NOT send money
✔ Contact your local police department directly

Please share this post to help protect friends, family, and especially our elderly residents who are often targeted by these scams.

When in doubt — hang up and call us directly.
