Fall sports season is here, but the Texas heat isn't going anywhere.

Whether you're stepping onto the field, practicing after school, or cheering from the stands, staying hydrated is one of the best ways to help your body perform and recover. Don't wait until you're thirsty. Drink water before, during, and after practices and games, especially on hot and humid days.

If someone begins showing signs of heat stroke, such as confusion, loss of consciousness, or stops sweating despite the heat, call 911 immediately. Quick action can save a life.

A water bottle may be one of the most important pieces of gear you bring this season. Stay hydrated and stay safe.

As students head back to school, drivers play an important role in keeping children safe. Slow down in school zones, watch for children crossing the street, and never pass a stopped school bus with its stop arm extended.

Parents can also help by teaching children to look both ways before crossing and to stay a safe distance from the curb while waiting for the bus.

Working together helps create a safer school year for everyone.
