Good evening, CFISD! Early voting starts tomorrow and continues through Oct 30. Thank you to all who have expressed support and who plan to vote for CFISD Propositions A, B, C, D, E. 🗳️

I know there are a lot of different opinions out there. I hope that each voter does their own research and makes informed decisions.

CFISD is asking for an investment in our PEOPLE (teachers, paras, bus drivers, counselors, nurses, etc) and for additional revenue to pay bills like utilities and insurance. School district bills have gone up due to inflation (just like our personal bills), but our revenues have been limited by the state.
This is Proposition A on the ballot.

CFISD is also asking for funding to maintain, update and replace existing assets like HVAC, roofs, safety systems, buses, cybersecurity, classroom technology, and athletic facilities used by students across the district.
These are Propositions B, C, D, E.

CFISD has never before asked its local taxpayers to increase Maintenance & Operations taxes.

For more than 40 years, CFISD has provided a 20% homestead exemption saving taxpayers money. Sadly, the state withholds $72M annually from us because of this tax break. That is a primary reason why CFISD is funded so much lower than other districts. This is forcing the district to seek help from the local community.
This is Proposition A on the ballot.

The local community has historically supported CFISD Bond Elections, consistently voting for investments in buses, campus renovations and new facilities. The last Bond Election was 7 years ago in 2019.
The 2026 long-range planning committee that put together the current bond plan prioritized updating and repairing existing assets.
These are Propositions B, C, D, E.

CFISD has already cut $94M in expenses over the past 3 years.

CFISD puts the majority of funding in the classroom and has one of the lowest administrative cost ratios in the state.
Property taxes for folks over 65 years are frozen and will not be affected by voting YES.

The CFISD Board voted to let local voters decide on Propositions A-E. I believe strongly in local control and support this decision.

I hope you will agree with me and vote to support our 112,000 students and 18,000 employees by voting YES for CFISD Propositions A, B, C, D, E.

Hi, CFISD Community! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Fall weather (finally!) and had some time to rest and relax during the Fall break. Even though our schools were on break, we were still busy across the district.
Sharing some pics from the animals at the CFISD Science Resource Center - grateful for the SRC staff and volunteers caring for the animals that help bring science to life for our CFISD students!

While the CFISD Board and District administration work slowly and carefully to build good governance into our AI policy, guidelines and guardrails AND seek input from teachers and parents before moving forward, the Commissioner of the Texas Education Agency is pushing AI into Texas schools with reckless abandon.

The TEA Commissioner tried to get the Alpha AI schools to be approved as a charter school franchise but the elected State Board of Education said no. So, Alpha AI schools became a private school network instead that was approved for taxpayer-funded vouchers and looking to expand across Texas.

Now the Commissioner is pushing traditional public schools to use more and more AI in our schools.

Not surprising since he uses AI to score STAAR tests and when local schools ask to have their tests rescored by humans, we have to pay $$ for it.

The TEA has pushed all STAAR tests to be online starting in 3rd grade which is why public schools are forced to teach elementary students how to complete assessments online, including how to type out extended answers on a keyboard.

Remember, this is the same TEA Commissioner that could have declared a budget surplus (the TEA has A LOT of extra $$$ ) as directed by state statute and could have sent 50% of our lost state funding due to our local optional homestead exemption (50% of $72M = $36M) to CFISD but he refused.

The TEA Commissioner is not elected; it is a position of power appointed by the Governor.

I hope that state legislators will take a serious look at the TEA in the upcoming session to study the increase in bureaucracy, use of no-bid state contracts, and consolidation of power at the state level away from local communities.

Last year, a local community member reached out to me pushing Alpha AI and I pushed back. I believe that students are best educated by real TEACHERS - and our teachers in CFISD are the best in the state!

As a community, we need to work together to provide the right learning environments, resources, and tools to help our students learn, grow, and achieve.

Last year, just 21% of students from an Austin charter school using an AI learning platform passed state-mandated tests.

Texas education leaders helped get the technology in front of public school leaders.

Good news for CFISD students, parents, and teachers! CFISD has been working on technology use guidelines - officially called "Technology's Presence & Purpose in Instruction" - and it's finally here. In additional to guidance on classroom screen time and elementary students being able to keep their chromebooks at school, parents will soon be able to access parental controls to limit and restrict internet access on school devices at home.

Did you know that over the past 3 years, CFISD has welcomed 159 new Teachers and 230 new Paraprofessionals to CFISD who started working on their careers as students participating in the CFISD Teacher Prep CTE courses in high school?
How wonderful is that?! We love that former students come back to CFISD as educators! 🍎

Facts show that CFISD has been cutting costs and tax rates for the past few years 📉📉📉.
While revenues have been declining, inflation impacting fuel, utilities, and insurance has increased 📈📈📈.
Even when property values go up, school funding stays flat ⚖️.

The CFISD community values strong local public schools and local control.
The CFISD community values the programs and services provided to kids all across the district. 🔬🎭🎨🚌

Now is the time to invest in our local public schools and ensure local control.

Voting YES for Proposition A will bring more revenue (local AND state) to maintain programs and services.

Voting YES for Proposition A will NOT increase taxes for those 65+ or disabled and will NOT impact the 20% property tax relief provided by CFISD.
I am voting YES on Proposition A. 🗳️
