Our Toastmasters club (Lone Star International) is now adding an in-person meeting once per month at the Weekley Center in Cypress. We also have meetings on zoom on the other times we meet. Whether we meet on zoom or in-person, the meeting times are 12 noon to 1 pm on the first, third, and fifth Fridays each month. Please join us as a guest if you can. On a hot day in Houston, it's nice to remember a cooler day by the fountains on the grounds of Unity Village in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Even though we have been involved with Unity since the early days of our marriage, this was the first time we had visited the "World Headquarters of Unity" in person. The grounds and buildings are beautiful and the Sunday service there 2 weeks ago was excellent. The minister there - Chris Jackson - sends a big shoutout to Michael Gott of Unity of Houston!

We will hear many points of view in the wake of the assassination attempt against former President Trump. One of my many thoughts is that anyone who attempts an assassination in a democratic country is attempting to deprive citizens of a vote. They are among other things being highly arrogant in taking away our right to vote. They also endanger the lives of people around their target and in this case did kill another person and critically wounded 2 other people in addition to wounding Trump.

This incident is also a reminder that extreme rhetoric by politicians, citizens and the media can motivate some unbalanced people to violence. May we all remember that. Our words matter. Let us choose them wisely.
