As we head into Memorial Day weekend, we honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It's also a time when many of us gather with family and friends to celebrate the start of summer.
The Tallapoosa County Sheriffโs Office is gearing up to keep the roads and waterways safe. Our citizens and visitors can expect to see increased patrols across the county throughout the holiday weekend. Our deputies will be out in full force to ensure a safe holiday for everyone.
With high school graduations, backyard BBQs, and water getaways, we want to remind everyone to make safety a top priority:
๐Celebrate Responsibly๐
If you're hosting or attending a graduation party, please be responsible when serving alcohol. Never serve to minors, and make sure guests have a safe way to get home.
๐Drive Safe, Buckle Up๐
Expect increased traffic over the weekend. Always wear your seatbelt, obey speed limits, and never drive impaired. Let's keep our roads safe for everyone.
๐๏ธWatch for Motorcycles๐๏ธ
Motorcycle traffic increases during the warmer months. Be alert, check your blind spots, and share the road.
๐ฅ๏ธPractice Water Safety๐ฅ๏ธ
If you're heading out on the water, wear a life jacket and ensure everyone on board does too. Know your location in case of emergencyโit can save valuable time for first responders.
๐ดโโ๏ธKnow Exactly Where You Are โ Even Off the Beaten Path๐ดโโ๏ธ
Tallapoosa County is full of beautiful outdoor spacesโtrails, rivers, lakes, and campgrounds. But these places often lack formal addresses, which can delay emergency response.
