Canada will extend the waiving existing remission of tariffs on Ukrainian goods until June 9, 2027.

This one-year extension will ensure that Ukrainian goods continue to be imported in Canada tariff-free, including those not covered by the Canada-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement.

Today, Parliamentary Secretary Turnbull announced a $10 million investment, over five years, to support continued operations of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) in Montréal.

To provide better support and make day-to-day essentials more affordable, announced the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB) will be replacing the GST credit in July 2026.

Minister Champagne was in Shawinigan to highlight the one-time top-up payments being issued today, as part of the transition to the new CGEB, to those who were entitled to receive the GST/HST credit in January 2026.

Supporting Canada’s steel and aluminum industries, and the workers and communities that rely on, them a priority for the government.

Today, Minister Champagne announced the intention to extend Canada’s steel tariff-rate quotas (TRQ) regime for imports from non-CUSMA countries and the existing horizontal tariff relief for eligible steel and aluminum products from the United States (U.S.) and steel derivative tariffs.
