🚑 Training Day at Yahoola Creek Park! 🚒
Our EMT students took the classroom to the field this past Monday, February 9th! Ten students from the Lumpkin County Emergency Services EMS/Fire Academy were put to the test, navigating high-pressure medical and trauma scenarios in a real-world environment.
This level of training is what ensures our future first responders are ready for anything, but we couldn't do it alone.
A Huge Thank You
This exercise was a success thanks to the meticulous planning of our instructor cadre and a fantastic partnership with the University of North Georgia Corps of Cadets. These cadets volunteered their time to serve as patient actors, providing the realism our students need to excel.
We want to give a special shout-out to the volunteers who dedicated their day to helping us train:
* Teresa Armendarez
* Emeril Littleton
* Ashlie Fleeman
* Frances Lewis
* Ellora Menon
Please join us in the comments by wishing these students luck as they continue their journey to serving our community! 👏✨

Sunday December 7th around 5 a.m, Dispatchers received the report for an attic fire. Units responded immediately. Upon arrival, units on scene found heavy flames showing from the peak & chimney of a multi story residential structure, where units placed apparatus's on scene in position for an offensive attack, where personnel quickly geared up, deployed hose, threw ladders, ventilated the roof & made entry allowing personnel to quickly contain any further spread of the fire. Upon cleaning up of the scene, around 7:15 Dispatchers received a report of a 2nd structure fire, where units still on scene quickly took immediate action & responded to a single story structure with heavy flames showing from the far right side of the structure, & with the quick response timing of mutual aid from Dawson County, units arrived on scene, took immediate action, quickly contained the spread of the fire, & rescued 11 baby kittens. Both residential structures remained 80% undamaged. No victims were involved. We appreciate all of the quick response timing, swift actions & hard work of our Dispatcher's, crew's, each personnel & our department.

Tuesday evening, Members from our Volunteer Division of Lumpkin County Emergency Services met at Walmart for the annual “Christmas Kids” event. Each year personnel pull tag's from the Christmas tree's located within the front of the store, using the funds raised and donated to purchase gift's for underserved children throughout our county. This year through the tremendous help of an anonymous donor, we were able to make Christmas for 90 kid's just a little bit brighter.

Thank you to those who donated and each member who participated in this amazing event.
