SCAM ALERT

The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you asking for money for an ankle monitor, bond, fines, or any other payment for a loved one’s release. These calls are scams designed to create panic and pressure you into paying quickly.

If you receive a call like this:

- Do NOT send money or provide personal information

- Hang up immediately

- Report the call to the Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office

When in doubt, call us directly using a verified phone number. Please share this post to help protect others in our community.

We are proud to welcome the newest member of our Sheriff’s Office K-9 family and extend a big thank you to Briarpatch Hounds of Dawsonville, Georgia, owned by Jeff Bell and Jann Mauldin.

Briarpatch Hounds raises exceptional AKC Bloodhounds with proven working bloodlines and puppies currently serving in law enforcement and search-and-rescue across the Southeast, including right here in Dawson County. These dogs are bred to do what they love most—tracking—and we are honored to add one of their pups to our team.

We need your help…
The community is invited to help name our newest K-9. Drop your name suggestions in the comments below and be part of welcoming this future tracker to our family.

We will announce her name Sunday at 2pm before the puppy bowl.

We join our brothers and sisters at the Gwinnett County Police Department in mourning the tragic loss of Police Officer Senior Pradeep Tamang, who died as a result of injuries sustained in the line of duty.

Our thoughts and prayers are also with Master Police Officer David M. Reed, who remains hospitalized. We are wishing him strength and healing as he continues his recovery.

We extend our deepest condolences to Officer Tamang’s family, friends, fellow officers, and the entire Gwinnett County community during this incredibly difficult time.

May we honor their service, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others. Please keep all involved in your thoughts and prayers.
