A clean environment doesn't happen by accident! Join us on National Cleanup Day from 9am-11am at Rowlett Creek Preserve to shape a cleaner, healthier environment 🌳

Toyah Creek has come a long way this year, but there is still work to be done. Check out our last post to see the progress that has been made.

We recommend wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We've got cleaning locations for all abilities, and if you're feeling adventurous, bring a change of shoes or rubber boots to help in the shallow creek. Let's do this! ♻️

Big things have been happening at Toyah Creek in Rowlett Creek Preserve over the past few weeks! 🌿

A large buildup of woody debris had blocked a culvert, trapping litter that had been carried downstream. Thanks to the incredible team at Garland Stormwater Management, that debris has been cleared away, restoring the beauty of the creek. 👏

But the restoration isn't finished yet, we need your help!

Now that the creek is accessible again, it's time to remove the litter left behind in the creek and surrounding forest. Grab a friend and join us for on September 19, 2026. Together, we can make a lasting impact on Toyah Creek and help keep beautiful!

We had a wonderfully hardworking, curious, and professional group of young conservationists visit Tenmile Creek Preserve yesterday - the Trinity River Crew! We spent the morning picking up litter, giving the pollinator garden some TLC, and doing trail maintenance. The visit wouldn't have been complete without some nature study! The TRC used iNaturalist and Merlin along the way to identify some of the organisms they observed throughout the preserve. If you're not squeamish, check out the Wetland Wolf Spider (with its babies) they were able to document!

Special thanks to City of Lancaster, TX - Municipal Government Parks and Recreation for helping with the litter!

🦋 It's 🦋

Take a look at some of the pollinators photographed in Dallas County Preserves! Pollinators like bees, moths, butterflies, and hummingbirds, provide 1 out of 3 bites of food we eat, according to the USDA. Say thanks by planting native plants, volunteering at a preserve, and educating others about the importance of pollinators!

Post Oak Preserve will be temporarily closed effective June 16th. Construction crews will be on the preserve to resurface the paved trail. The estimated date of reopening is October 28, but it is dependent on the weather. We will announce when the preserve is reopened.

Last week, our amazing volunteers accomplished so much in Dallas County Preserves! 🌳

At Cedar Mountain Preserve, we tackled a massive task of removing invasive privet to restore some much-needed habitat for our native species. It was a big job, but the team worked tirelessly to clear the area, making way for the local wildlife to thrive. We're so grateful they for their hard work and dedication!

At Post Oak Preserve, we were thrilled to have our friends at Texas Conservation Alliance join us for a fun-filled morning of creating native garden beds near the preserve sign. We designed the beds to showcase a variety of beautiful native plants that might be found in a Post Oak Savannah. Plus, we even had some time to pick-up litter along the preserve boundary.
