The U.S. Army exists to fight and win our nation's wars, Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth said at today, and Army Lt. Gen. Jon Jensen, Director of the Army National Guard, (pictured) noted 24,000 Army Guardsmen are mobilized worldwide today, while 12,600 are supporting civilian authorities here at home, including with the ongoing Hurricane Ian response. Just two moments from Day 1 of . Attending events like this gives Soldiers an opportunity to immerse yourself in useful information from the strategic to the tactical level. If you get one of these types of opportunities, take it.

Tonight, I underscored the importance of the longstanding strategic defense relationship between our nation and the Arab Republic of Egypt at a celebration of Egypt Armed Forces Day here.
Egypt and the Texas National Guard established a security cooperation partnership last year under the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) National Guard State Partnership Program, and Texas Guardsmen will participate in Bright Star 2023, a major Egyptian military training event boosting readiness and increasing the ability of the personnel and equipment of our respective armed forces to work together seamlessly.
More than 12,000 Guardsmen have deployed to the Multinational Force and Observers on Egypt's Sinai Peninsula since 2002.
It was a privilege to represent the National Guard at tonight's event.

The most recent Battlefield Circulation consisted of units made up of top performing members of Task Force Phoenix. The daily duties these Soldiers carry out include transportation, distribution, operations, ammunitions storage and tracking, customs, es**rt, supply, human resources, intelligence, communications, and travel management. The “Can Do” attitudes from the men and women you see here are what make the 36th Sustainment Brigade the pinnacle of customer support for U.S. Central Command. Congratulations to those of you that were recognized and thank you all for what you contribute to our team every day. Sustain the Fight! (Post 1/2)

The top performers at the 36th Sustainment Brigade’s Soldier and NCO of the Quarter Board are Specialist Brandon Guerra, representing the 36th Special Troops Battalion and Sergeant Raisean Smith, representing the 497th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion. These two competitors put their professionalism, and wealth of technical and tactical knowledge on display and emerged the victors over their peers. Your hard work and effort was certainly present and Task Force Phoenix couldn’t be more proud for you to move on and represent the 36th Sustainment Brigade at higher levels. Congratulations to the both of you!

Our Command Team, recognized three of our most creative Soldiers this week for stepping up and volunteering to design and produce one of the most exceptional displays of unit pride that we’ve seen during this mobilization. SPC Jaqueline Rivera, SPC Jessica Rogers and SPC Patrick Anderson spent countless hours of their own time creating this lasting piece of the Phoenix legacy that we will leave behind upon our return home. This is significant because this is the last rotation that units will be authorized to paint these concrete “T-wall” barriers in order to show pride in their respective unit. Thanks to these Soldiers, Task Force Phoenix will not soon be forgotten. Fantastic job, Phoenix Soldiers!

Our leadership believes that professional development shouldn’t start after becoming an NCO, it should start at the Soldier level. 36th Sustainment Brigade is committed to forging tomorrow’s leaders, today. SFC Robert Houston conducts our Junior Enlisted Professional Development every month to ensure we continue to sharpen the minds of the Soldiers that make up Task Force Phoenix.

It is our distinct honor to present to you the next Non-Commissioned Officer to stand proud among Texas National Guard Sergeants Major, Sergeant Major Chris Stephenson. His effort and dedication to the Soldiers in our formation go unmatched. Today marks a truly special day for the 36th Sustainment Brigade but even more so for the Stephenson family. SGM Stephenson was lucky enough to share this milestone with his wife, Cindy, and dear friend SGM Derek Renfer. We genuinely appreciate you both allowing us to celebrate this occasion with you.

The Command team of the 36th Sustainment Brigade, Colonel Perez and Command Sergeant Major Castillo had the honor of holding a patching ceremony for over 120 Soldiers yesterday evening. This deployment is the last time our patch will be donned and awarded which makes this moment that much more significant. These Soldiers are part of a chapter in history that is closing, but to be sure, have made an unmistakable impact on this theater. We could not be more proud of their accomplishments. Sustain the Fight, Phoenix Soldiers.
