Next Saturday, we will be hosting our annual Domestic Violence Brunch! We're so excited to witness all of the connection and community healing that will come from gathering as a community and raising awareness around the impacts of domestic violence.

Although we've just filled all of our spots, we will be sure to share with you the special moments that this event creates. To all of the survivors, advocates, professionals, and community members who will be joining us, we want to extent a warm welcome and say that we are honored to have you!

We all know that it takes a village, but a village doesn't show up out of nowhere if we haven't been tending to it. In order to truly support a each other, we have to show up in ways that are actually catered to specific individuals even if it becomes inconvenient or uncomfortable.

Today we celebrate the delayed freedom of the enslaved African Americans in Galveston and across Texas. Two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, on June 19th of 1865, union workers informed the slaves that they had been declared free. Though this day is filled with joy and celebration, it is a reminder that the fight for total freedom and equity is still present. Happy Juneteenth!
