Buddy Watch Walk Day was highlighted by a 2.2-mile walk to raise awareness about PTSD, TBI and other veterans issues. The “2.2” represented 22, which some estimates indicate is the number of veteran suicides each day in the United States. “We’re just trying to do our part to lower that number, and hopefully one day, it is none,” Ring said.

453 Auxiliary Members: Let’s have an informal meeting on the 453 patio, Wednesday, 10/14, at 7 pm. We won’t be able to do as much as we normally do during the holidays but we can carry on Shirley Jean’s Pajama Drive for kids of veterans. Let’s talk about that on Wed. and get a chance to visit (safely and responsibly!).

ALERT!!! BUSY Day ...come join in the fun! Thanks for your SUPPORT!
Veterans Day On Veterans Day we honor all who answered to the call. Soldiers young and Soldiers old. Fought for freedom brave & bold. Some have lived while others died, and all of them deserve our pride. We're proud of all soldiers who kept thinking of Red, White, and Blue. They fought for us and all our rights, they fought through many days and nights. And though we may not know each name, we thank all Veterans just the same. Written by: Lauralee Reisch Cotten-Alsup
So for years on November 11th, Veterans Day, I have made a list of places I was going to eat for free. Usually was extremely stuffed by the end of the day. Texas Roadhouse has given me the best experience to date. This year since I am not working I thought I would see if there are other Veterans out there who would like to ride with me. Was thinkin of hitting breakfast then brunch, lunch, mid-afternoon, dinner etc. then to a local watering holes in between. Let me know if interested an we'll figure it out. Being a Veteran is not a requirement to join.
Come and get it! The American Legion Post 453 needs your support! You won't regret this fantastic meal!

Good afternoon! I noticed the post here on Facebook about the cooking drive to help raise funds for the Post. Another great, and probably much better idea, would be to set up a "Go Fund Me" for the Post. Members can donate and also share the link here on Facebook. The process is EXTREMELY easy and you would probably be shocked by the large amount of funds raised. It couldn't hurt anything to try, and it only takes about five minutes to set it up. Semper Fi! John
You're just hours away from a great dinner! Post 453 starts serving at 4!! ENJOY!!

Dear Post 453 Comrades, My name is Warren Hunt. I live in Michigan, and am a life member of both the VFW and the VVA (Chapter 35, Toledo, Ohio). I am also a retired active duty Army E-7, beginning with service in Vietnam in 68-69 with the First Infantry Division. In 2018 I published a memoir, “Reflections on the Vietnam War: A Fifty-Year Journey,” an overview of what the Vietnam Era looked like to me. It covers the span of time from when I was in high school, through my Army service in Nam, culminating with my attendance at the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 1982. The book is available at amazon.com in paperback as well as Kindle format. A link to my book’s website is attached here: www.facebook.com/rvw50. This memoir has been included by Bowling Green State University and Lourdes University as part of the reading list for their classes on the Vietnam War. In addition, it has received positive reviews from well-known literary publications, including Manhattan Book Review, Publishers Weekly/Book Life, and the VVA Veteran: Books in Review (Henry Zeybel). In April of 2018 an excerpt from my book appeared in a special commemorative issue of USA Today: “Echoes from Vietnam.” “Reflections on the Vietnam War: A Fifty-Year Journey” has been well-received by readers; including Vietnam veterans and their family members. Many non-veterans, especially younger people, have also found it enlightening as an aid to gaining a broader perspective on the Vietnam War era. I am now in the process of sharing my work with local veterans organizations; not to make money, but because I have been told I should share it by so many people who find it an inspiring and informative read. Best wishes to your post members for a safe and pleasant summer. Sincerely, Warren Hunt Vietnam 68-69
