Dallas County Sheriff's Office-Vehicle Crimes Unit Created for the public and public assistance. We also use forensic mapping equipment that aids in mapping the physical evidence found at the crash scene.

The Dallas Sheriff's Office Vehicle Crimes Unit (VCU) is a specialized unit within the Freeway Management Division of the Sheriff Department. We use mathematical analysis obtained from crash scene data to assist in determining the circumstances and causes surrounding a crash. There are 4 detectives assigned to VCU. VCU works fatalities, crashes involving serious bodily injuries, crashes involving

county owned vehicles and hit and run crashes. We are responsible for preparing and filing cases with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office for but not limited to; Accident Involving Damage to Vehicle, Accident Involving Injury/death (Failure to Stop and Render Aid), DWI, Intoxication Assault, Intoxication Manslaughter, Murder, Manslaughter, Criminally Negligent Homicide, Evading Arrest/Detention w/ Motor Vehicle.

We are deeply saddened to share that one of our Dallas County Chapter members was struck and seriously injured last night while outside of his patrol vehicle. Deputy Robinson was working a traffic hazard on the highway when he was struck by a vehicle that lost control. The impact caused Deputy Robinson to fall off a bridge causing severe injuries. He is scheduled to undergo surgery soon and is expected to fully recover.

Please keep Deputy Christian Robinson and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Chapter Vice President, Sergeant M. Valladarez, has been in contact with the family, and Chapter President Miguel Hernandez has remained at the hospital with our member and his loved ones, offering support on behalf of the entire chapter.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a major accident eastbound I-20 at Spur 408, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m. When deputies arrived, they located a victim of a hit-and-run. The victim was riding a motorcycle when he was struck by a silver sedan. The victim succumbed to the injuries as a result of this accident.

The Vehicle Crimes Unit detectives are seeking a person of interest who was driving a silver sedan that fled the scene eastbound on Interstate 20.

A man was outside of his disabled vehicle on the side of the road around 3 a.m. near Highway 67 and I-20 when he was sideswiped and hit by a truck. Authorities believe they now have the hit-and-run driver in custody.
