Heads up for my Medicare folks: Open Enrollment opens this week — October 15 through December 7.

This is your chance to review your plan for 2027. Plans change every year — premiums, drug lists, and which doctors are in-network. If you don't review, last year's plan rolls over with next year's prices and rules.

Two things to do:
1. Read the Annual Notice of Change your plan sent in September — it lists what's changing.
2. Compare plans at Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). Pennsylvania also has free counseling through PA MEDI if you want unbiased help.

December 7 is a hard deadline — no extensions. If you want help sorting through it, message me. Call or text 570-262-7197.

Heads up for my Medicare folks: the one-time $90 Part B payment is landing in accounts today (Oct 8) by direct deposit — no application needed. Paper checks go out later this month and will say "Medicare Improvement Fund Payment; $90 Payment to Offset October Premium" so you know it is not junk mail.

Two groups do not qualify: if Medicaid pays your Part B premium, or you pay extra on your premium because of higher income (also not for Medicare Advantage plans).

And please — Medicare will never call asking for your bank info to send this.

🍂 Medicare Open Enrollment is coming: October 15 – December 7.

Confused by Parts A, B, C, and D?

🏥 Part A – Hospital insurance (inpatient care, skilled nursing, hospice)
👩‍⚕️ Part B – Medical insurance (doctors, outpatient, preventive care)
📋 Part C – Medicare Advantage (private plan bundling A + B, usually D too)
💊 Part D – Prescription drug coverage

The big choice: Original Medicare (A + B, plus optional Medigap and Part D) OR Medicare Advantage (Part C). Tradeoffs: doctor choice, network rules, out-of-pocket limits, drug formularies.

Before comparing plans, write down:
✔️ Every prescription, dose, and preferred pharmacy
✔️ Your doctors and hospitals — confirm they're covered
✔️ Full yearly costs, not just the monthly premium
✔️ Travel and snowbird needs
