You are truly the best example of a true leader, airmen, warrior!! The many memories we have of you will always be shared and your example of leadership will live on in the many airmen who had the pleasure of working with you and for you!! We will miss you greatly SMSgt Tim Hoover!!

Today has been a hard pill to swallow for many but below is from the families page:

Tim’s graveside service will be Saturday at 10 am in East Texas at Shiloh Cemetery (the corner of CR 3131 and Hwy 315 near Mount Enterprise Tx. ) The kids want to have a celebration for Tim and share their favorite memories of him afterwards at Shiloh Baptist Church, right next door to the cemetery. Any and all are welcome to come celebrate Tim’s amazing life.

When it comes to building a successful warfighting force, inclusion is power.

Tech. Sgt. Leonard Matlovich, a Vietnam War veteran who earned the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his service, was one of the first voices in the LGBTQ+ community to take a stand against the ban on homosexuals joining the military.

Since Matlovich's challenge in 1975, the military has come a long way in taking steps toward inclusivity. The victorious “Don't Ask, Don't Tell” (DADT) Repeal Act became law just ten years ago, sexual orientation was added to the Military Equal Opportunity policy six years ago, and within the last few months an Executive Order was signed to enable transgender individuals to serve.

These recent changes not only impact the LGBTQ+ community, but the armed forces as a whole. The all-volunteer force thrives when it is composed of diverse Americans who can meet the rigorous standards for military service, and an inclusive military strengthens our national security.

Physical fitness testing will resume July 1, 2021. Several changes have been made to the test to include increasing scoring for push-ups and sit-ups from 10 to 20 points each, five-year age groups and the waist measurement no longer being required. The Air Force has also worked on alternative strength and cardiovascular testing exercise options with plans to announce them in the coming weeks.

“We are moving away from a one-size-fits-all model,” said Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown, Jr. “More testing options will put flexibility in the hands of our Airmen – where it belongs. We know not all Airmen maintain their fitness the same way and may excel in different areas. Alternate components provide choices while still providing a mechanism to determine overall fitness.”

Well we are always taught to adapt and overcome and it was either weather the wind or face the heat inside with a broken air conditioner! We adjusted and made the best of an impromptu outdoor ceremony!

Congratulations to the well-deserving Maj Lovell (aka:TSgt Finney for some older folks) on her promotion today! Col Lewis pointed out that she has been a member of the 254 CCG longer then any other current Airmen! Here’s to many more years!
