New Images for the archives of the Dallas Police Museum. The Dallas Police Canine Unit was established in 1961, Selton Norman #1244 was a trailblazer in the canine unit. Norman helped establish and train Dallas Police canines. In the first image Rebel and Norman are seen searching the Whiterock spillway. The second is Norman and Rebel poising for a camera. Then the lighter side of Rebel, in a wagon, love the look on Rebel in the wagon. The images of the bad guys are from a "hook" book. Hooks is a term for of course the bad guys police encounter or have encountered on the streets. Before computers in the cars officers carried "hook" books to remind them of bad guy/girl encounters on the street. THANK YOU TO THE NORMAN FAMILY FOR SHARING THESE IMAGES.

In 1978 Hazeltine Company started testing with the Dallas Police Department an Automated Vehicle Monitoring system. Early GPS, this helped the dispatchers locate the closest patrol vehicle to a call. This system was to not acurate and abandoned, groundbreaking but maybe to advanced for it's time.
