The City’s Annual Street Maintenance (ASM) Program will continue with asphalt spot repairs along N. Arizona Dr and in the Harvest Glen area. These projects are part of the City’s ongoing investment in preserving local roadways and maintaining the safety, quality, and longevity of Celina’s transportation infrastructure.

N. ARIZONA DR – W. PECAN ST TO W. MAPLE ST

SCHEDULE (WEATHER PERMITTING)
• Start Date: September 7
• Estimated Completion Date: September 16

TRAFFIC IMPACTS
• N. Arizona Dr between W. Pecan St and W. Maple St will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the work.
• Local access and emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
• Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
• The contractor will actively manage traffic control throughout the project to help maintain safe and efficient access around the construction area.

HARVEST GLEN – PRESTON HILLS CIRCLE INTERSECTION

SCHEDULE (WEATHER PERMITTING)
• Start Date: September 8
• Estimated Completion Date: September 12

TRAFFIC IMPACTS
• Harvest Glen at the intersection of Preston Hills Circle will be partially closed while repairs are underway.
• Local access and emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
• Traffic will alternate through the construction area as directed by traffic control signage.
• The contractor will actively manage traffic control throughout the project to help maintain safe and efficient access.

OUSLEY PARK | CONSTRUCTION & RESTORATION UPDATE
Progress continues across Ousley Park as the City advances two major investments designed to enhance the park’s recreational amenities while preserving and restoring its natural environment.

THE CLUBHOUSE AT OUSLEY PARK
Crossland Construction, the City’s general contractor for The Clubhouse at Ousley Park, continues to make progress across the facility and surrounding site.

Crews have completed site utilities, paving layout, security and access control trim-out, and interior glazing and frame installation. Current work includes mass grading, lime treatment in preparation for paving, installation of the permanent power meter from Oncor, and light fixture installation.

Upcoming activities will include drilling piers for the front canopy, installing form boards for paving, starting up the HVAC system, and advancing interior finishes with millwork, countertops, ceiling tile, and additional light fixtures.

OUSLEY PARK RESTORATION PROJECT
Beyond the Clubhouse, work is also advancing on the City’s broader Ousley Park Stream Restoration Program. RoeschCo has begun construction on the Doe Branch Trail & Stream Restoration Project, an important component of the Ousley Park Master Plan.

The restoration effort encompasses approximately 30 acres of parkland surrounding Doe Branch and will provide critical stream stabilization, erosion control, and trail connectivity improvements throughout the park corridor.

Together, these projects represent a significant investment in the future of Ousley Park - creating new opportunities for recreation and community connection while protecting the natural features that make the park an important part of Celina.

The Splash Pad at Old Celina Park (OCP) will operate Friday, September 4, through Monday, September 7, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and again from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Monday, September 7, will mark the final day of Splash Pad operations for the 2026 season.

The facility will close beginning Tuesday, September 8, and is scheduled to reopen for the summer season during Memorial Day weekend 2027.

As we continue to celebrate 150 years of Celina, we’re looking back at the places that have helped tell our community’s story - some through major moments in our history, and others simply by standing the test of time as Celina grew around them.

At the southwest corner of W. Pecan and N. Arizona streets stands one of those places.

Built during the early years of the 20th century, the John Stallcup Home dates to a time when Celina’s present-day townsite was still relatively new. Families were establishing homes near the Downtown Square, businesses were taking root, and the railroad was helping shape the future of the growing community.

A photograph from 1915 captures John Stallcup, pictured on the far left, alongside members of the Stallcup family outside their home. Beyond the family portrait, the image offers a glimpse into a much younger Celina when the streets, neighborhoods, and Downtown we recognize today were only beginning to take shape.

More than a century later, the Stallcup Home remains in its original location.

It has endured generations of Texas weather and witnessed countless changes as Celina grew from a small railroad town into the community we know today. What began as a family home is now part of a Downtown experiencing another period of remarkable transformation.

Today, the building’s purpose creates a unique connection between Celina’s past and its future.

The former Stallcup residence now serves as the local office for Swinerton, the commercial construction company building Celina’s Downtown Center and Parking Garage across the street.

There is something fitting about that connection.

More than a century ago, the Stallcup Home stood as Celina’s new townsite was taking shape. Today, that same home serves the people helping shape Downtown’s next chapter.

As Celina celebrates 150 years, the Stallcup Home reminds us that progress does not always require leaving the past behind. Sometimes, the places that witnessed our beginnings can become part of where we are going next.

One home. Two eras of Downtown Celina. And more than a century of history connecting them.

IN THE KNOW: PROPERLY RETIRING THE AMERICAN FLAG
When an American flag becomes worn, faded, or damaged, there is a respectful way to retire it.

In the latest episode of our In the Know video series, we take a look at the proper way to retire an American flag and how our community can help ensure these symbols of our nation are treated with the respect they deserve.

Have a flag that is ready to be retired? Bring it with you to Friday Night Market this Friday, September 4, and visit the American Legion Post 145 booth. Residents and visitors can donate worn or damaged American flags, which the American Legion will properly retire.

Can't make it this Friday? American Legion Post 145 will accept flags at its booth at each Friday Night Market, providing an ongoing opportunity to respectfully retire your flag.

LEGACY DRIVE CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Major improvements continue along N. and S. Legacy Dr between W. Frontier Pkwy and Carey Rd as part of the Merritt Crossing development.

Crews are nearing completion of paving on the northern portion of the project and have also removed the temporary transition at the northern section near W. Frontier Pkwy. Work continues to advance toward completion of the remaining major roadway improvements.

While the northbound lanes are located within the Town of Prosper, the bridge is a City of Celina improvement and an important component of the overall project.

The roadway is anticipated to open to traffic in October.

Drivers are encouraged to continue using caution in the area and remain aware of construction crews and changing traffic conditions as work progresses.

🕊️ DOVE HUNTING SEASON OPENS TOMORROW 🕊️

Dove hunting season opens tomorrow, September 1! Before heading into the field, please make sure you know and follow all state and local regulations.

✅ Possess a valid Texas hunting license
✅ Have a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement and HIP certification
✅ Obtain the property owner’s consent before hunting—written consent is the safest practice
✅ Hunt only during legal shooting hours—one-half hour before sunrise through sunset
✅ Know your target, what is beyond it, and never shoot across a roadway or property boundary
✅ Follow all applicable hunter-education requirements

Within Celina’s ETJ—and in certain areas annexed after September 1, 1981—shotgun discharge may be permitted on a tract of at least 10 acres only when the hunter is more than 150 feet from a residence or occupied building on another property and the shot is not reasonably expected to cross the tract’s boundary.

Property location and annexation history can affect whether hunting is lawful. Hunters are responsible for confirming that they may legally hunt at their specific location before discharging a fi***rm.
