🎄 We couldn't wait... we tried... but we couldn't wait. Celina is a Christmas Tree goes up before Thanksgiving type of City, and we are excited that our signature 30-foot Christmas Tree is currently being installed on the Downtown Square. Today, we began the work of transforming our beautiful Downtown Square into a charming, small-town Christmas destination straight out of a Hallmark movie. We can't wait for the lights to begin to go up around downtown next. Remember to come watch the tree get lit for the first time at our annual Christmas on the Square event on Wednesday, November 29. The event begins at 5 PM, but the tree lighting will be at 7 PM.

🍂✨ Gratitude in abundance! Our senior residents were able to come together and celebrate Thanksgiving early in the new Ralph O'Dell Senior Citizens Center and the warmth of community filled the air. Our hearts are full of joy and fellowship at the opportunity to celebrate in the new center.

Excitement is building for the grand opening the first week in December (more details to come), as we continue spreading the spirit of togetherness! A heartfelt thank you to Crossway Church of Christ and Tender Smokehouse for their generosity in providing food and lending helping hands at Friendsgiving in our Senior Citizens Center. 🙏🍽

Happy Texas Recycles Day, Celina! Texas Recycles Day aims to raise public awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of recycling. Recycling conserves natural resources, saves energy, and reduces the amount of landfill space used each year.

Did you know that one of the biggest problems for recycling is still food waste? Putting food in a recycling cart can actually ruin your other recycling and make it unrecyclable. As we get ready for family gatherings and big holiday meals, we're reminding our residents that food waste doesn't belong in the recycling bin.

MEDIA RELEASE: City Council Votes to Approve Robert Ranc as Celina City Manager

The Celina City Council today announced the approval of the contract for new City Manager Robert Ranc, following a robust nationwide search. Ranc, who presently serves as Deputy City Manager in the City of Dublin, Ohio, has served in municipal leadership capacities in Ohio, Utah, and Texas. Prior to public administration, Ranc served in the United States Air Force for six years as a Persian-Farsi linguist. After his military service, he earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in public administration, both from Brigham Young University.

"I am thrilled to welcome Robert Ranc as the next Celina City Manager," said Celina Mayor Ryan Tubbs. "Of all the candidates reviewed by the council, Ranc had the broadest experience in public service and presented himself in such a way that he seemed to be the best fit with Celina's vision and values. I look forward to welcoming him and his family home to Celina, Texas, around the first of the year."

'Tis the season, Celina! 💙🎅

'Tis the season, Celina! 💙🎅

Looking for ways to give back during this holiday season? 'Tis the season, Celina! Join our Blue Santa program! There are 24 families left that need your help! 💙🎅

If you are new to Celina and the Blue Santa program, here are a few things you need to know:

-All families on the Blue Santa list live within the Celina community and go to school in the Celina ISD school district.
-Blue Santa is not a toy drive. Each child on the Blue Santa list has their own needs and wants wish list. Please be aware that some of their wants, like any other child, could be pricey. You will be emailed this list once you complete the adoption process. This email will also include instructions for gift wrapping and the date by which we will need the gifts delivered to the PD. 🎁
-If you want to help but don’t believe you are able to fully adopt a family here are some ideas. Get with a group of friends, family, or neighbors and adopt a family as a group. We will only need one person of contact when adopting.
-We also take gift cards that we will give to families on top of the gifts that are received. We do ask that the gift cards be either Visa or Walmart and in the amount of $25. 💳
-The Blue Santa program is only successful because of you, the Celina community, and your loving generosity toward those who are less fortunate this Christmas. Thank you. 🙏

What a time to be in Celina! Celina, Texas has a unique opportunity to create a city that is connected, livable, and sustainable. Trails and bikeways play a major role in achieving these goals. Our Trails Master Plan is an essential tool for planning and developing a connected and livable Celina. The plan identifies opportunities for trail development, designates “spine trail” corridors, and provides a road map for long-term implementation. Life Connected. at its finest!

Trails and bikeways can connect our community in many ways. First, they can provide safe and convenient ways for people to get around. This is especially important for residents who do not have access to a car or who prefer to walk or bike for transportation. Trails and bikeways can also connect people to important destinations such as schools, parks, businesses, and community centers.

In addition to providing transportation options, trails and bikeways can also promote building our community. When people have opportunities to walk, bike, and interact with each other outdoors, they are more likely to get to know their neighbors and feel a sense of belonging to this community we all love. Trails and bikeways can also help to improve public health and well-being. Trails and bikeways can also provide opportunities for people to connect with nature and reduce stress levels.

The Upper Trinity River Water District (UTRWD) announced today the rescinding of the Stage 1 Drought Contingency Plan, effective immediately.

The recent rainfall has helped replenish UTRWD's water supply lakes and water usage has declined with the cooler weather. While supply and demand may have improved, we all must continue to be good stewards of the limited water supply. Here are a few water saving tips from our friends at UTRWD:

-Turn your sprinker system off during the winter.
-Only water when needed, but no more than two days per week.
-Winterize sprinkler systems & outside faucets.

The City of Celina and Celina American Legion Post 145 will be honoring the legacy of Lance Corporal Steven Hutchings with a Veterans Day Street Dedication on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 9 AM. The street dedication will take place on the corner of Hutchings Court and Kylee Lane located in the Chalk Hills subdivision.

A 1966 graduate of Celina High School, LCPL Steve Hutchings joined the United States Marine Corps where he followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Jerry. In 1968, the younger Hutchings was deployed to Vietnam where he was assigned to the 3rd Platoon, Golf Company 1st Battalion of the 2nd Marine Regiment in the Quang Tri Province of northern Southern Vietnam.

On August 6, 1968, Hutchings was the point man for a 20-man unit of his platoon that was patrolling the area around Con Thien when his squad was encountered by North Vietnamese soldiers where he was killed in action.

Hutchings Court is dedicated to the memory of Steven, and his sacrifice during the Vietnam War.
