Outstanding work by one of our alert detectives and our night shift officers early Sunday morning (05/31/26, 1:45 am).
A detective working in the 500 block of W. Arapaho Rd. heard the sound of breaking glass and immediately went to investigate. He discovered a suspect had used a rock to shatter a restaurant window in an apparent burglary attempt. When the suspect spotted the detective, he fled on foot. Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts of additional officers, the suspect was quickly apprehended. The man was arrested and charged with Attempted Burglary and Evading Arrest. He was also found to have outstanding warrants for Burglary, Failure to Identify, and Resisting Arrest. Great teamwork, vigilance, and dedication by our officers once again.

Richardson Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and two vehicles.

On May 25, 2026, at approximately 9:44 p.m., Richardson Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a person walking in the roadway in the 2400 block of the west frontage road of North Central Expressway.

While patrol officers were responding, additional callers reported that the pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle. Richardson Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.

The Richardson Police Department Special Crash Investigation Team is conducting the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate the pedestrian was in the left lane of traffic when they were struck by an initial vehicle and then struck a second time by another vehicle. Both vehicles involved remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.

A recent incident highlights neighbors looking out for one another, helping officers quickly arrest three theft suspects.
A homeowner received an alert from his surveillance camera showing the suspects in his backyard stealing property. At the same time, a neighbor who was outside witnessed the incident, recorded video, and immediately called 9-1-1.
Thanks to the detailed descriptions provided by our residents, officers quickly located the suspects’ vehicle as it was leaving the area. Three suspects were arrested, and the stolen item was recovered.
