Good Afternoon Lyle Families,
We have an exciting update. Class placements for the 2026–2027 school year will be released through ParentSquare today at 3:30 PM!
We had originally planned to release class placements tomorrow, Friday, August 28. However, we learned today that a change in how ParentSquare handles class groups may allow some families to see teacher information as students are added to those groups. Rather than have class placements slowly trickle out, we have coordinated with Oakdale Heights and will officially release them to everyone this afternoon.
While students (and families!) are understandably most excited to find out who their teacher will be, I want you to know just how much thought goes into that name in the teacher box.
Class placement is not something we take lightly. The process begins way back in May, when teachers gather in our Multi-Purpose Room to thoughtfully design classes based on student needs—academic, social, and behavioral. We also consider which classroom and teacher will be the best fit for each child. By the end of that meeting, we have our first draft of class lists.
In June, specialists such as PE, Music, and Special Education teachers weigh in to help us ensure balance and support for all learners. Over the summer, those lists “rest.” Then, when our office staff and I return in August, we make adjustments for new enrollments and other changes, always taking another careful look at where each student can thrive.
If you are new to Lyle, I also want you to know that I personally read through each of the purple Getting to Know Your Child forms families completed. The insights you shared helped us make thoughtful placement decisions for your child.
I share all of this because I want you to know the time, thought, and care behind today’s class placements. Some students will be thrilled when they see their teacher, while others may initially feel disappointed if they didn’t get the teacher they were hoping for. If that happens, it’s a great opportunity to encourage them:
“This is the class where your teachers believe you will thrive. Let’s see how this goes.”
The truth is, you really can’t go wrong with any of our Lyle Elementary teachers. They are talented, dedicated, and passionate educators. I would be happy to have my own children in any of their classrooms because I know each one will provide a meaningful, engaging, and caring learning experience.
So, when you see that class placement today, know that it represents months of careful and thoughtful work. More importantly, consider it your family’s ticket to an incredible 2026–2027 school year, no matter which name is in the teacher box.
If you are unable to see your child’s class placement for any reason, please contact our office and we’ll be happy to help.
We can’t wait to welcome our Lions back to Lyle!
