Community Partner Shoutout: Tipps Printing and Copies!

We’re incredibly fortunate to have businesses in our community that step up to support our schools, and Tipps Printing and Copies did just that again this year!

Our Kindergarten and First Grade teams needed the bindings removed from several workbooks so teachers could easily use individual pages with students. When we reached out to Tipps for help, they once again took care of the project at no cost to our school.

That kind of generosity makes a real difference. Thank you, Tipps Printing and Copies, for continuing to support our teachers, our students, and Lyle Elementary. We appreciate you!

Good Afternoon Lyle Families,

We have an exciting update. Class placements for the 2026–2027 school year will be released through ParentSquare today at 3:30 PM!

We had originally planned to release class placements tomorrow, Friday, August 28. However, we learned today that a change in how ParentSquare handles class groups may allow some families to see teacher information as students are added to those groups. Rather than have class placements slowly trickle out, we have coordinated with Oakdale Heights and will officially release them to everyone this afternoon.

While students (and families!) are understandably most excited to find out who their teacher will be, I want you to know just how much thought goes into that name in the teacher box.

Class placement is not something we take lightly. The process begins way back in May, when teachers gather in our Multi-Purpose Room to thoughtfully design classes based on student needs—academic, social, and behavioral. We also consider which classroom and teacher will be the best fit for each child. By the end of that meeting, we have our first draft of class lists.

In June, specialists such as PE, Music, and Special Education teachers weigh in to help us ensure balance and support for all learners. Over the summer, those lists “rest.” Then, when our office staff and I return in August, we make adjustments for new enrollments and other changes, always taking another careful look at where each student can thrive.

If you are new to Lyle, I also want you to know that I personally read through each of the purple Getting to Know Your Child forms families completed. The insights you shared helped us make thoughtful placement decisions for your child.

I share all of this because I want you to know the time, thought, and care behind today’s class placements. Some students will be thrilled when they see their teacher, while others may initially feel disappointed if they didn’t get the teacher they were hoping for. If that happens, it’s a great opportunity to encourage them:

“This is the class where your teachers believe you will thrive. Let’s see how this goes.”

The truth is, you really can’t go wrong with any of our Lyle Elementary teachers. They are talented, dedicated, and passionate educators. I would be happy to have my own children in any of their classrooms because I know each one will provide a meaningful, engaging, and caring learning experience.

So, when you see that class placement today, know that it represents months of careful and thoughtful work. More importantly, consider it your family’s ticket to an incredible 2026–2027 school year, no matter which name is in the teacher box.

If you are unable to see your child’s class placement for any reason, please contact our office and we’ll be happy to help.

We can’t wait to welcome our Lions back to Lyle!

The Lyle CARES Closet Could Use Your Help!

Our Lyle CARES Closet has been a wonderful resource for helping make sure students have the everyday essentials they need while at school. Thanks to the generosity of our Lyle community and our partnership with Polk County School Based Mental Health, we’ve been able to have clothing and other necessities available when a student needs them.

Right now, there are a few items we’re running low on, and we’d love some help restocking our shelves!

Our biggest needs right now are:

New

Girls’ underwear — sizes 4, 6, 8, and 10

New or Gently Used

Girls’ leggings — sizes XS–M
Boys’ sweatpants — sizes XS–M
Boys’ shorts — sizes XS–M

No Jeans Please.

If you happen to be cleaning out closets or would like to pick up an extra item while you’re shopping, we would be grateful for the donation.

These may seem like small things, but having a clean, comfortable change of clothes available can make a big difference in a child’s day and help them get right back to learning.

Thank you for continuing to take care of our Lyle Lions and for being such a generous community. We also appreciate Polk County School Based Mental Health for their continued partnership with the CARES Closet.

If you are able to donate, you can drop items off at the Lyle School Office.

If you have any questions, please let me know! Thank you for your support of Lyle Students.

Getting Ready for Our Lions!

The start of a new school year is getting closer, and Lyle is beginning to come back to life!

While our teachers and many of our staff have not returned yet, there is already a lot happening behind the scenes. Our custodial staff has been working hard to get our building ready, cleaning classrooms, waxing floors, moving furniture, and tackling all of those summer projects that help make Lyle ready for our Lions.

At the same time, our office staff is busy preparing for the year ahead, answering questions, helping families, updating student information, and working through the many details that need to come together before the first day of school. There is a lot of work that goes into getting a school ready for a new year, and we are excited to welcome everyone back!

One of the biggest ways families can help us prepare is by making sure students are registered. If your child attended Lyle last year, we are already planning on seeing you back! However, if you are new to our community or have an incoming kindergartner, it is important to come into the Lyle office and complete registration as soon as possible. Knowing who our students will be helps us plan classrooms, staffing, transportation, and the supports our students will need.

If you still need to register, please stop by the Lyle office and see us! We would love to help you get everything taken care of and answer any questions you may have. And if you know a family with an incoming kindergartner or a family that is new to our community, please encourage them to come see us too.

Every day, we are getting a little closer to opening those doors and welcoming our students back. There is still plenty of work to do, but we are excited about the year ahead and can't wait to see you.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. We'll see you soon!
