The Dallas Police Explorer Program is for young people aged 14-21 who are interested in law enforcement as a possible career and is under the umbrella of the Boy Scouts of America. Explorers participate in weekly meetings that teach them about law enforcement, as well as life skills to prepare them to become the leaders of tomorrow. Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space Dan Micciche Jesse Moreno Paula Caldwell Blackmon Dallas Police Department - Northeast Division
The Ferguson Road Initiative had a very informative Community Connection Town Hall Meeting last night at the Owenwood Farm & Neighbor Space. We heard from our new District 2 Councilmember, Jesse Moreno and from Paula Blackmon, District 9. The Northeast Division PD reported on crime reduction in the FRI area. DISD School Trustee received the Ferguson Road Initiative Obelisk Award for his many years of service to the schools in the FRI area.
Ken Benson reported on the Transform Dallas Fair Park proposal and Philip Hiatt Haigh, Circuit Trail Conservancy, updated FRI on "The Loop."
What an inspiring visit today to the Dallas Police Department. Violent crime in Dallas is down 15%. Fewer lives damaged, futures squandered, resources wasted. More possibilities, more hope. How?
Chief Eddie Garcia had the courage to try a new approach, the leadership to implement it, and the loyal, capable efforts of DPD officers to carry it through. Partnering with criminologists from UT San Antonio and with support from the City of Dallas, DPD used empirical tools and other data analysis to identify hotspots and then combat and prevent crime where it’s most likely to happen. The results have been astounding: more than 50% decline in violent crime in those areas.
It was indeed an honor to present a congratulatory resolution to Chief Garcia, Executive Assistant Chief Lonzo Anderson, and UTSA Criminologists Dr. Michael Smith and Dr. Rob Tillyer, for their work, and for winning the Data-Driven Policing award from Smart Cities North America Awards (SCNAA).
They’re not done, by the way. There’s much more that law enforcement can do, and we can expect DPD and Chief Garcia to lead the nation in using a holistic approach and unbiased analysis in crime reduction.
I’ll be doing everything I can to ensure that they get the support they need.

Are you having the morning video session today?
It's really sad when someone calls as shots are being fired right outside their door, and you can't be bothered to show up over an hour later. Only 3 active calls listed with 1 unit each. Slow night in this neighborhood.
Do you only show up when your dispatcher hears the shots for themselves now??
Are the rumors true? Are you too scared of the Forest/Audelia area? Are you just as dirty as this neighborhood and turn a blind eye?
Will you wait until someone else is killed?
So many of us have lost faith in you and your lack of response. We know the chances of you showing up are slim to none and we are on our own.
Dallas Police Department - Northeast Division DO BETTER!!
Edit: It took over an HOUR for dispatch to even mention a call regarding the glass doors of an vacant apartment being shattered, but no mention when someone was actively shooting.

I just had a man expose himself in front of where I live by peeing out in the open. I have kids and he did not care. He took off the moment he noticed me. I called Dallas Police and they told me there's nothing they can do. I have his license plate number. Can anything be done about this, so he doesn't do this again? Doing nothing is absurd when I have his information. UCA-3131
