"There are so many problems that families are dealing with during the pandemic, and unfortunately, couples who are struggling with infertility are not top of mind. But timing is everything. It's my hope that those who are able will consider offering support to 3 couples this winter facing mounting medical bills for IVF treatment or going through the adoption process. With donor support, we can offer them a chance to grow their family in 2021."

Jewish Family Service is proud to have served a record-breaking 4,293 individuals (1008 families) in just 3 hours at our Thanksgiving drive-thru food distribution.

With the help of a team of 50 incredible volunteers, we were able to distribute 1000+ turkeys and traditional fixings in addition to the regular produce and non-perishables provided on a weekly basis.

We are proud to be a parter in hunger relief with the North Texas Food Bank and to help North Dallas residents who have fallen on hard times.

Roughly 1.8 million North Texans aren’t confident they can afford their rent this month according to The Dallas Morning News. Fortunately, an ordinance that was passed in April 2020 still is in effect, giving tenants time to make arrangements for rent payments.

JFS is combating the COVID-19 eviction crisis (through partnerships with Collin County, Dallas County, and City of Dallas) by distributing $2.8 million to North Texans in need through JFS Dallas’ Emergency Housing and Utility Assistance program.

We are proud to be 1 of 17 organizations in the Dallas Rental Assistance Collaborative working to keep our neighbors in their homes. Visit https://unitedwaydallas.org/rental-assistance/ to learn more.

For those who need help, our Thanksgiving drive-thru food distribution is this Thursday from 9am-12pm at our office located at 5402 Arapaho Road, Dallas, TX 75248.

"I believe that people should have the opportunity to have a family despite their financial situation. A family can be created in many ways and the Priya fund opens the doors to families who otherwise would not have the means to create or start their own Jewish family. I am involved in Priya because I experienced infertility with my first child and my second child is adopted. I personally understand the longing to be a parent and the helplessness felt when it seems impossible. Finances should not be the reason why someone's dream of a family is unfulfilled. Any Jewish person who values family can understand why receiving funds from Priya can be transformative and life changing." - Priya Committee Member

"One example I’d like to highlight is our longstanding, high-impact partnership with Jewish Family Service. As the pandemic has progressed, JFS has seen an increase of almost 300% in hungry clients requesting kosher food in their drive-thru pantry. JFS is poised to meet these escalating needs due to COVID, including the challenges of deteriorating morale among educators in our schools, as well as offering counseling to address anxiety, depression and isolation among all our neighbors."

Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies

Four Jewish Family Service Agencies across Texas have joined together with the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies to Strongly Oppose Texas' Decision to Limit Access to Social Work Services for Persons with Disabilities and LGBTQI.

The change to the code allows a Texas licensed social worker to refuse to provide mental health or other support services to clients on the basis of the client's disability, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Coming at a time when Texas is continuing to struggle with the profound and lasting impact of the global pandemic, this change creates unnecessary challenges in accessing much needed social work services and furthermore it sends a message that persons with disabilities and members of the LGBTQI communities are "less than" and not worthy of the array of supportive services provided by social workers that are available to others.
