At the David Omenukor Foundation, we believe that every person regardless of location, income, or circumstance deserves access to reliable cancer education, preventive healthcare, early screening, and compassionate support.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but taking charge of your breast health should begin now. A mammogram is an important screening tool that can help detect breast cancer early—often before symptoms appear.

The David Omenukor Foundation, in partnership with Methodist Health System, encourages all eligible women to be proactive about their health by scheduling a mammogram ahead of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Do not wait until you notice a lump or experience symptoms.
Encourage your mother, sister, daughter, friend, or colleague to get screened.

This impact was made possible through the dedication of our volunteers, healthcare professionals, community partners, the leadership of St. Brigid's Catholic Parish, Nnarambia, and every community member who participated.

Our mission is very clear and we continue putting in the great work.

A conversation can save a life.

In rural communities across Nigeria, many people have never heard of colorectal cancer, don't know the warning signs, and may not realize that screening can help find problems before symptoms appear.

That's why the David Omenukor Foundation is bringing education, screening, and follow-up support directly into the community.

With support from GCCA's CRC Health Equity Grants program, the Foundation reached approximately 2,500 people with colorectal cancer education and helped connect individuals with screening and referrals for further care when needed.

Their story is a powerful reminder that health equity starts with awareness, access, and trust.

IMO STATE LAUNCHES CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING PROGRAMME — DOF SUPPORTS AND HONORS INVITATION

In a major step to reduce cervical cancer among women, the Imo State Government, in collaboration with (PECCIN) Partnership for Cervical Cancer Elimination in Nigeria and the National Taskforce on Cervical Cancer Elimination (NTF-CCE), officially launched the state’s Cervical Cancer Screening Programme.

The event, held at Sam Mbakwe Hall, Rockview Hotel, Owerri, brought together key government leaders, health experts, and partners. The David Omenukor Foundation (DOF) supports this life-saving initiative and proudly honors the invitation to join the collective fight against cervical cancer.

The programme focuses on expanding access to screening, encouraging early detection, and strengthening healthcare response. Leaders emphasized that cervical cancer is preventable and highly treatable when detected early.

Notable dignitaries included the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Her Excellency Barr. Chioma Uzodinma - Chiarperson FLAC, Hon. Minister of State for Health Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, Hon. Commissioner for health Imo State Dr. Chioma Vivian Egu, Chiarman National Taskforce on Cervical Cancer Elimination Prof Isaac F. Adewole, Co-chair, NTF-CCE & President-Elect, UICC Her Excellency Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, Director General/CEO, NICRAT Prof. Usman Malami Aliyu, NCS President Prof Abidemi Omonisi ably represented by NCS Chiarman Imo State Dr. Okechukwu Duru among others.

With support from partners such as the World Health Organization, Union for International Cancer Control, Clinton Health Access Initiative, and Roche, the initiative aims to improve early diagnosis and reduce cervical cancer deaths across the state.

The official flag-off marks a strong step toward eliminating cervical cancer in Nigeria, with women encouraged to access screening services and promote awareness within their communities.

DOF remains committed to supporting cancer awareness, screening, and community health education across Imo State and beyond.
