Founded in 2007 by Kainette Jones, ICARE Youth Services (Interdisciplinary Community Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education) empowers at-risk youth through anger management, life skills training, and mentoring. Inspired by her own survival of abuse and her family’s struggles with incarceration, Kainette created ICARE to break generational cycles and help youth navigate life’s challenges. Starting with just four students, ICARE has served over 200 adolescents in the Omaha metro area. The program focuses on proactive, community-based interventions to reduce recidivism and build self-worth. ICARE collaborates with local agencies to reach youth often funneled into the justice system due to trauma, poverty, or lack of guidance. In 2012, ICARE launched the LITE (Ladies in Training Everyday) Mentoring Partnership, supporting girls ages 11–17 in foster care or juvenile justice. The curriculum promotes positive decision-making and personal growth, helping youth discover purpose and potential. ICARE’s mission is rooted in the belief that all youth deserve a second chance—and someone who truly cares.
