Did you know that it was Dallas’ Bishop College, not the Cowboys, who played the very first game in Texas Stadium? They faced off against Houston’s Texas Southern University on Oct. 15,1971 (the hometown favorites lost, 34-21). The Dallas Cowboys’ first appearance at the new stadium wasn’t until nine days later, on Oct. 24, 1971, when they defeated the New England Patriots, 44-21. In this photo, Bishop College cheerleaders cheer on their team during that Texas Stadium game.
