It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our very own, Battalion Chief Edward Karriem.

The Little Rock Fire Department responded to a house fire at 9925 Stardust Trail, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 10:52 a.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported smoke visible from the one story wood-frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately.

Eight (08) pieces of Fire/Rescue equipment and approximately nineteen (19) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Battalion Chief Edward Karriem was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 11:22 a.m. There were no civilian injuries. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.

During firefighting/overhaul procedures, Battalion Chief Edward Karriem (41yo) was observed to be unresponsive in his Command vehicle; fire crews performed CPR and MEMS transported him in critical condition to Baptist Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The cause of death is pending the Medical Examiner’s Report. Chief Karriem faithfully served this city and the Division of Fire Services for seventeen (17) years. Our sincere prayers are extended to the family, loved ones and friends.

Pay tribute to past chiefs, officers or firefighters with an affordable bronze statue. Present it to the family or proudly display it at your firehouse. We offer these incredibly detailed statues in two sizes. A sixteen inch high, thirty pound version made of solid bronze and marble and a life-sized solid bronze outdoor version that can be the focal point of your firehouse. We engrave your company shield, one or several names and your message on the plaque. For further information Richard 321 804 4642 - www.bronze-depot.com
Dallas Fire Station #12. After having the opportunity to visit the Dallas Fire station #12 to deliver the new gas grill that our community donated, I was surprised to learn this station is in need of restoration. I was surprised the city of Dallas does not supply all that the fire fighters need. They are in need of new floor coverings, TV, large fan to circulate air in the shop, and possibly a new couch or chairs. Looking for donations of those items in good condition or for people in a related trade like flooring, to donate their services to help them out. They are always there for all of us.
Contact Joe with any questions. Thank You. My contact # 214 868 5257
